Hardware suggestions

My suggestions for future hardware (for 3x3):

-Utilizes by-hand tensioning system (like the XS dual tensioning system or numerical IPG of the Gan X) instead of traditional screw system. This is to ensure an easy way to get perfect tensions. Get rid of traditional screws.
-Comes factory PVC coated.
-Edge and corner caps are not removable (one piece, again like Gan cubes) to prevent pops or damage.
-55mm in size (new standard).

My GAN X V2 is a lot like this. You see this happening soon for GAN or another company making this move first?

Other companies definitely need to follow suit. And as for Gan, they just need to work on a 55mm cube and try to create an entirely new feeling cube (different structure of the pieces) IMO.

a Pokedex or somewhere near you.
I'm not sure how I feel about this since I use stickerless black on a few of my mains so unless the cubes come in black stickerless variants I don't want this to be a thing

I don't think unremovable edge and corner pieces are very good, because, you can never clean your cube and it will be against Gan's intention's and many cube companies' intention "to make everything as customizable as possible" because : 1: you can't change the magnet 2. you can't lube the pieces, and the pieces will be very dry, which also brings up another world of issues.

edit : wait da minute it's caps, ignore what I said lol

This might already be a thing with GAN but since they have a tonne of GES and IPG systems, if there was an option to choose an IPG, GES and mechanism of any cube and make your own cube, sort of how you would build a pc from the various components you prefer. I am currently using an obscure combination of pieces and core for reasons I have mentioned on social media and I particularly like it.

I just had a thought that the next Gan flagship should definitely have Center Piece Magnets (like the Valk Elite) in order for them to stay on top of the game. I really want a Gan cube that feels like the X but doesn't overshoot at times (not necessarily the XS), and I think center magnets would help a lot. More friction is good too. Also, just like Zan_A24 said, there are already a lot of different possible combinations for Gan cubes, so that's really good. For me, I made a Gan cube with X pieces, XS core, and GES+ nuts from the 356 M. Again, center magnets would be a good addition.

I am not a fan of these systems because it feels like they have 1 of 2 problems
1. The settings are too far apart and I cant find a good balance
2. The settings are unable to be tight enough
-Comes factory PVC coated.
PVC coating seems more like a gimmick to me. It fixes a problem that I have never had. If there was an option for a non PVC coating that would be nice.

I would agree with this if cube companies started making stickerless black cubes standard. I know many people that prefer black on some puzzles (For me its squan and mega). I dont find any problems with caps being damaged and if they do get damaged it can either be fixed easily, or you can just buy a replacement piece for 2-3 dollars.
-55mm in size (new standard).

I agree that cube sizes should be more diverse but I don't think that all cubes should be 55. I myself have quite big hands and although I can still use smaller cubes just fine it makes my hands feel like they aren't able to do what I want them to.

I'll give my take for what I want in 3x3 hardware

- Cubes that take feel to the extreme (ie. Papery, Smooth, Crispy, Clacky)
- No more frosted plastic for any cubes
- Interchangeable black pieces on all cubes
- Gan cubes that aren't the same design they have been using since the air
I'll give a square-1 wish list as well so I can plug the race thread

- Corner cutting without QSS (Qiyi Square-1 Syndrome)
- MGC and/or Huanglong Squan
cough cough 6x6 hardware cough cough there are so many brands of clocks to choose from cough cough gan cubes are so cheap!
MGC 6x6, ever tried one? Monster Go, I thought you replied to that thread?
I agree with you on clock since it been FOUR YEARS since moyu teased a clock on Facebook.

problubly to get people-to get excited about the moyu glock so they would boycott lingao or something.
Do you even sentence bro? All jokes aside I doubt that was the case since it looked exactly like a stock lingao with different clocks and pins. I don't think that they even made a design for a clock aside from different colored clocks and magnetic pins.

Since we’re going to the limit with 3x3 design now, having several different ‘Flagships’ from each company with different feels would be nice. We buy different cubes for their feel - clacky, smooth, sandy, etc, but what if one manufacturer had that all, plus their customization and everything.

The XS can get really tight by hand. Another benefit of the system is you can emulate professional settings. But, even though it's convenient, the cube definitely sacrificed corner cutting, specifically in the stickerless version.

Gan will probably continue to do better.

I hope that they use something that is much finer like on the WRm/GTS3. I like that on the WRm you can have 18 settings that range from crazy loose to crazy tight. I also like how the gan X lets you choose between numerical IPG and standard IPG. I hope that in the future all cubes can give you the choice between hand tensions and traditional screw-like tensions so people can choose what best fits for them.

In my opinion GAN has to make a 355 Air, a 355 Air SM, a 355 SM, a 355 X, and a 355 XS :eek::eek:
And on speedcubeshop you pay like $25 for PVC coating. You're going to have to completely increase the price of many cubes because it takes a lot to put it on a cube. It would be nice though if they added PVC coating to all of the cubes that companies sell. I also think 55mm would be an amazing size for OH because my Guhong V3M is too small in one hand and my XS is too big. Also, if you tension the XS a little too loose, barely any loose, it will literally, without warning, just explode.
If you want a 55mm puzzle, get a valk, valk power, or valk elite. Also, I find absolutely no reason for the PVC coating. The only thing that I can see as a plus is increased durability, but if you are getting scratches on your cube just put it in a box like this one or a bag like this one 1590787331037.png1590787354358.png
I have never had any issues with the grip on my puzzles, especially the ones that are glossy instead of frosted. Also, your complaint with the XS applies to literally any other cube in the market, If you make any cube incredibly loose it will pop/explode, it's unavoidable with current and most likely future hardware.

Well a lot of cubes are becoming 55.5mm nowadays. I agree with the PVC coating though, doesn’t seem that big.

The only thing really left for 3x3 cubes at this point is DIY custom stickerless color schemes. They just need to make a couple dozen different colors of plastic, and you buy a core and 6 different colors of sides. Pre-assembly would be a premium service. All puzzles, not just 3x3.
