An very impossible challenge.

Objective: solve the cube using ONLY Y-PERMs
(for beginners it’s F R U’ R’ U’ R U R’ F’ R U R’ U’ R’ F R F’)

before solving: perform a T-Perm on your cube
(for beginners it’s R U R’ U’ R’ F R2 U‘ R’ U’ R U R’ F’ )

I haven’t solved yet but here’s a hint: it’s impossible to do this without turning the cube sideways.

good luck

Tip: Try find a way to use lots of Y Perms and y rotations which end up in an AUF. The same kind of idea that doing J Perm y J Perm y J Perm is an AUF. So far I’ve only been able to discover how to do double AUFs, not very helpful, unless someone has an all double move T Perm.

Here is an easier problem:

Using only Y-perms Try to move red corner to a green position.

No you just don’t do the f at the beggining. It’s the Alg that you use in Pochmann blind for corners.

That's… obviously not a Y perm?

If you could find a y perm that would require an auf afterwards...
Like R2 U' R2 U' R2 U2 F' L' F R2 F' L F, perhaps?

I guess OP meant that you should only use the one Y perm alg that they listed, though; if you had both this and the standard alg, you could generate U moves directly, and things would be much easier.

And for that matter, what if you had only this Y perm alg, and you're not allowed to use the standard Y perm alg?

I know the answers, but I'm not going to immediately spoil it since (i) it's not my thread, not my call; and (ii) it's interesting to work these out on your own anyway. @kubesolver's post is a gigantic hint.

I did it. It was pretty simple, I just applied the same concepts that J Perm used in his video. I got a CO skip though, so that made it easier

This challenge is impossible, you cannot swap corners adjacently with only diagonal swaps. The corners will always remain in their own tetrads.

Yet people say they have found solutions to this. This doesn't make any sense.

Oh, my bad. Thought he said t-perms and y-perms since he talked about both

If it is truly impossible, then here‘s a similar challenge:

same rules but you may do one move (or an cube rotation) between y-perms but you‘ll have to redo them the next time (not including cube rots)
