[Help Thread] Help! My Moyu Aosu keeps getting stuck on the inner layers!

Hello, i've been cubing for about three months and decided to get more serious lately. I wanted to set up my Moyu Aosu 4x4 and lube it, but unfortunately i've messed something up.

On the Moyu Aosu ONLY (i've not seen this on other 4x4s?) a small thing sits at the end of each core piece (view image). My problem is that this thing gets stuck with the center pieces whenever i turn my middle layers. Where is this thing supposed to be and how do i fix my turning?

That happens with all the modern 4x4s. Try to rotate the center piece by 90º, you will have to unscrew in order to do that. I don't know exactly the orientation of those center pieces in relation with each other, but with some trial and error you will solve the problem.

If you line up 4 center pieces in a plane the 4 nubs on those center pieces all have to be offset to the same side. Right now the nubs are pointed at the edge of the puzzle, they need to be pointed at the corner, and oriented so that when you turn along an inner slice the core will turn along with one half of the pieces regardless of which slice you turn along. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks a lot My Aosu turns smooth now, no catches at all! One last question you may know the answer for; what function does the nubs have/ why are they placed there?

They're there to force the hidden inner layer to align with one side when doing wide moves or inner slice moves. Without them, the inner layer will get misaligned and cause lockups.
