[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

ZZ OH question.

I've been interested in OH these days, and I'm searching some methods for OH solving.
I can use ZZ(but inefficient EOLine) and I'm searching the LL or LS+LL methods.
I currently use OLL(7 cases with EO) + PLL, but I think its not that fast.

I found out that MGLS is good because it's 2gen. And I found out 2GLL(I don't know exactly what it is).
Which one would be the better choice?

P.s. I dont want what everyone use... I want something new(?)

I use both but 2GLL (2 Generator Last Layer) is better and easier.

2GLL requires the corners to be permuted. You could do this with ZZ-d or an easier version of ZZ-d.

I'd suggest using COLL-EPLL, though you might not want to learn the sune/antisune cases, since OCLL-PLL may be quicker for them.

why call an approach to ZZ-d "ZZ-e" ?

This probably doesn't go here, but I figured since phasing came from a ZZ variant (I believe, anyway) Is there and alg set for 2GLL with edges phased? It would be 30 algs, so a very few amount of algs for a 1LLL

Hi people. Just thought I would throw out there that i'm actually one of the very few ZZ-Blah users! So it might almost be but ZZ-Blah is not completely dead.

Do you like/dislike any of the following subsets:

- Edges solved
- Edges phased
- Edges 3-cycle

I always feel like the 3-cycle set has the best algs, but since it is the biggest set and I only know very few(the best) algs, this kind of feelings might be completly wrong.

Well im not too sure I understand what your asking. If your referring to last layer subsets where

Edges solved - PLL
Edges phased - ZZLL
and edges 3-cycle - sune/antisune

If that is what you mean then i really haven't had too much experience with them. Right now I usually just use COLL + EPLL and i am currently in the works of memorizing ZZLL. However because I use ZZ-Blah all I have to memorize are the Pi and H cases.

Which ZZ variant is best?

Hello!
I wanted to move from the beginner method to a speed method, and decided to try zz. What variation would be best for a beginner

Well, objectively speaking ZZ-a is the fastest one, but it involves memorizing hundreds of algs for the last layer.

Before getting into variants tho (which only apply to the last steps of the solve), I'd recommend just getting used to the EO line + block building steps, since they are pretty much the same in all variants and will come in handy no matter what you decide to go with eventually.

For a 2 look last layer (which means that you only execute at most 2 algs to solve the last layer), you need 7 OLLs and 21 PLLs.
For a 3 look last layer you need 7 OLLs and 6 PLLs (2 for corners and 4 for edges).

You could do the whole thing with just 3 algs (Sune for OLL, T-Perm to permute corners and U-perm to permute edges for instance), but you could end up having to execute up to 8 algs for the last layer.

It's actually less algs to do 2LLL on ZZ than cfop.

28 (21 + 7) vs 78 (21 + 57). And ZZ has less algs than roux (40). So overall, ZZ is easiest method in terms of algs to do.

Hi Guys here a document wth full OLS (502 cases) that l generated back when l was hesitating between ZBLL and ZZ-C, hope one of you finds it interesting and takes it further.

FULL ZZ-C

can't open it
google docs ples?

e: opened it, but it took me like 10 mins
google docs ples? XD
