without getting my cube out, you solution looks pretty good movecount wise. probably should work on fb and try to get 9 or less moves , shouldn't be too hard since you are y color neutral.

It looks overall pretty well rounded move count, just work on FB

troublesome two-flips

So which two flip case are you more particular to? (on top) Opposite flip, or Adjacent flip?
As of now, I tend more toward the adjacent 2flip because it requires 7 moves with no auf, whereas the opposite 2flip sometimes requires an auf in addition to those 7 moves. However, if we are to pair up URUL while orienting edges, will the auf requirements of opposite 2flip continue to be disadvantageous? Because pairing up ULUR might call for an auf even on the adjacent flip. And while i am talking about step 4b influence, which 2flip case presents the most opportunity for move efficient placement of URUL in DFDB?

indeed.

the algorithm is just a general idea however. just know that if you have two edges at the bottom and an adj flip on the top, do an M2 to get to 'the arrow'. the solvation of the orientation from that point on is case dependent.... idk if this is obvious to you or not, so sorry if im insulting your knowledge or something by explaining it to you :x

Why do we use E2 M' E2 M for dots, but CFOP users use the <M,U> algorithm during Z perms? I usually use MU for the dots+M2 case (usually (E2 M')2), but E2 M' E2 M for dots. Which is actually faster?

i think it's because z perm is 10 moves with [M,U] and 8 moves(?) with the E2 stuff, those extra moves aren't worth the regrip. for roux dots it's a difference between 8 moves and 4 moves, worth the regrip, unless you're like me and can't do E2 way well.

Here are what I get for movecounts, firstly with the E2 solutions, and then with a couple of MU solutions (the first one is what I'd do, and the second one is treating UFUB as ULUR, and some of the solutions I think are quite nice):

Case 1 (setup with E2 M' E2 M' U' M2):
M2 U E2 M' E2 M' // 6 moves
M2 U' M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2 // 8 moves
[U2] M' U2 M2 U2 M' U' M2 // 7 moves

Case 2 (setup with E2 M' E2 M' U' M U2 M):
M' U2 M' U E2 M' E2 M' // 8 moves
M' U2 M' U' M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2 // 10 moves
M U2 M U2 M2 U' M2 // 7 moves

Using my alg it's only ever 2 extra moves, but you can reduce it to 1 (or even save a move) using an alternate MU solution.
Case 1 (setup with E2 M' E2 M U' M2):
M2 U E2 M' E2 M // 6 moves
[U2] M' U2 M2 U2 M' U' // 6 moves

Case 2 (setup with E2 M' E2 M U' M U2 M):
M' U2 M' U E2 M' E2 M // 8 moves
// I would do the above alg
M' u2 M' u2 U' // 5 moves. M' U2 M' with E2 M' E2 inserted cancels lots of moves
M U2 M U2 M2 U' // 6 moves

The MU solution is the same number of moves in the first example, and both MU solutions are more efficient in the second.
So I don't actually think the E2 solutions are that great. They don't save many moves (if any), and the regrip+hard fingertricks suck.

hmm, interesting. i usually do the [M,U] inefficiently since lookahead isn't that great. but i guess if you add those cancellations, the E2 solutions seem obsolete.

Yeah, I never really looked at how efficient UFUB was. I'm going to start doing a lot of slow solves and looking ahead to predict dots, since I definitely prefer the MU solutions.
