If you have not heard, the WRC (WCA Regulations Committee) just informed competitors that they will be deleting some or all results from nearly 20 competitions held in Vietnam from 2013-2022. Entire rounds of certain events, or even entire competitions, are having their results deleted. An investigation into results from Hanoi Open 2022 uncovered widespread procedural issues at the competitions including improper cube covers, untimed inspection, judges judging multiple stations at once, egregious violations of scramble secrecy and so on.

This isn't the first time the WRC has deleted results from a competition but it's certainly, by far, the largest such deletion.

This is very interesting, where can I keep up to date/find more information about this? Is the situation still ongoing, or has it been mostly resolved by now?
Mostly resolved. People can appeal the decision but I doubt they'll get anywhere.

I've been following discussion in Facebook groups.

Wow, that's kinda crazy. Were there any records set that will now be rolled back?
Plenty of NRs at least.

These screenshots were posted in the square-1 discord server, hopefully they give more info about the situation.

this is exactlg what happened to the Cavite Open 2 2018, no evidence of cheating, but improper cube covers.

The full investigation has now been completed and the full report was released today, 29 Jan 2023.
