I have heard those cubes suck.
Seriously, get an AV, F or a GH.
I have recently progressed past the beginners stage and it was the Dayan GuHong 3x3 Speed Cube 6-Color Stickerless that did the trick. I respectfully disagree with the notion that one must pass a certain time threshold before investing in quality cube. I got a late start on the hobby (I'm 51) and have arthritis in my right hand and wrist from a motorcycle accident. Trying to crank on the store bought cube actually caused physical pain. Having the stickers get all gunked up didn't help matters. Right out of the box the Dayan was so smooth that faster moves seemed to suggest themselves. I haven't lubed it yet but have made some minor adjustments by popping off the center caps and turning the screws a bit. This cube seems to reveal it's true potential as I get better and start testing out different finger tricks and solutions. It's not only painless, it's actually therapeutic. So I'd say, yeah - go for it.
Yes but the OP is very likely between the age of 10-14 and I highly doubt has arthritis. I have not heard of anyone getting arthritis from cubing. Most kids want to go as fast as they can, if this guy gets a guhong or something like that, it will be uncontable and will likely pop alot on him.
