Viable Sub-steps which Compliment CFOP

Hello there,

I know over half of the OLL algs and I am in the process of learning the rest but that is not what my thread is about.

I am wondering what various sub-steps there are that would compliment CFOP. I have looked into ELS and CLS, also F2LL and VHF2L. I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. I haven't learned any of these steps and I am looking for some guidance. I read somewhere on here that F2LL has been discarded by some for being too slow and inefficient.

I was wondering are there any useful sub-steps that I can learn once I have finished the OLL algs,

Many thanks,
Ali

There is OLLCP which influences the corners for PLL (such as avoiding diagonal swaps e.g. N, V, Y perms). But other than that and COLL most of the fast people don't seem to bother with many of the weird sub steps. OLL/PLL is pretty fast.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Well I might look at OLLCP, I want to get faster with Roux so I suppose that COLL would help me in that respect.

It's a shame I really want something that will let me do a bit more in solves, currently partial edge control is as extreme as it gets...

300 algorithms for OLLCP!

I would look at Petrus but I'm getting far enough into CFOP for me not to want to switch.

OLLCP seems to have far too many cases, I don't have the time. There isn't any way to force an OLL skip or PLL skip then?
I love learning new things about the cube, new ways of solving that I can, in some cases, add on to my technique that can help. For example look at an OLL and think I could OLL it but if I do this, bam, I have a PLL skip or a case something like that.

It's not that I think it will speed me up instantly to sub 10 it's just having the power to choose different methods to solve.

very good site for stuff like this, has F2LL, VHF2L etc

I've seen this site before but never given it more than a passing glance. I think I might start selecting some OLLCP cases to begin learning. I've got 4 OLL algs that I want to learn because they're variation of anti/sune and then after that I'll leave OLL a while...

Are there any other good resources out there?

not really an add on but you could also check out http://cube.garron.us/MGLS/ if your interested (although learning this would render ollcp useless).

My only question about that is how efficient it is. For example if I'm solving and I do one of those algs could I have been quicker just solving the slot and OLL?

I might seem to be a bit ignorant and not willing to take ideas on board, and if I come across that way I apologize, but I am listening to everything you are all saying and looking at the links and checking things out. The reason I keep asking questions is I don't want to waste my time learning algs which will slow me down or for methods which are dead and no one uses.

A more specific question, is doing ELS and then COLL a good plan?
