My alpha chun 2 is pretty old, but it's my main. Despite lackluser standard corner cutting (reverse is INSANELY GOOD), it is very light and controllable.

The zhanchi and weilong are still super viable, and still used today from what I know . The shuangren and guhong are currently outdated, but again were probably the two most important cubes in developing the asthetics of speedcubes on the current market.

I used a Zhanchi up until this year when I bothered to be a little more interested in new cubes. I'm trying to learn OH and use a mini Weilong V2 (but still occasionally use my 55mm Zhanchi). A Weilong feels pretty close to what most modern cubes feel and perform like. I've never tried a Fangshi cube but those illusion ones look awesome.

To beginners or those wanting to practise precise turning, I'd always recommend a Zhanchi because it has that right balance or being forgiving with corner cutting and not popping too often as well as not having the best reverse cutting meaning it forces you to be accurate.

I still sometimes solve my Zhanchis for that feel that no other cube has been able to replicate. Maybe a Thunderclap or Haulong set up in the right way, but still not quite that Zhanchi feel.
