I feel like cube manufacturers should play more with stuff like inertia and the actual mechanism of the cube instead of putting magnets in every free space of plastic like it’s a house lot for sale.
like adjustable weights in the corners of the cube so you can decide whether you want your cube to have more momentum in each turn or not.

If the wholesale price is as low as the other QiYi warrior non magnetic then it will have its place on the market and they will probably release a magnetic version at some point too.
 
Just tried a prototype of the upcoming Vin Megaminx (yes the 4x4 brand) in a comp earlier today, it comes with frosted/UV coating, and the edges look very similar to the very old MGC Megaminx or the old MoYu AoHun Megaminx with the thick ridges. The grip is nice especially the UV version. But it is much smaller than the old MGC Megaminx or the old MoYu AoHun Megaminx, similar to the size of the GAN Megaminx V2. The prototype I tried is not lubed, and does have some tiny catches here and there. I assume it to be core magnetic, and I think it can be a good contender to be one of the best mid range Megaminx along with the YJ YuHu V3 or the DaYan Pro V2 Megaminx. Compare to these modern Megaminxes, the turning style is more similar to the YJ than the DaYan, with a slightly more rounded feeling. Whether it is comparable to the GAN Megaminx V2 would require proper setup to make a fair comparison, but at least for the prototype Vin Megaminx I tried, the GAN Megaminx V2 is still a clear winner with a more superior performance OOTB.
 
Not sure if mentioned yet but the new Dayan Jinghong 4×4×4 has been announced. Retail price probably around 30-40 USD, comparable to Vin 4 v2 Surge.

First (mass produced) 4×4×4 to feature a 20-mag ball core. Nothing else about it seems particularly special but as a Dayan fanboy, I have high hopes.

I wonder how a 20 magnet ball core would work on 4x4, where would the edge magnets in the core attract to?
