Unsolved Puzzles

The reason mine are always solved is simply because solving them is the fun part. Scrambling is boring. If I'm going to bother with scrambling something, odds are that I want to solve it right then.

My feelings on this are that there was a thread asking exactly this question very recently... (and many other times before then...)

This one? I think the two topics are different enough that they don't need to be in one thread. Also, I did a few quick searches and couldn't find any other similar threads.

On topic: All of my puzzles are almost always solved. When I notice that one isn't solved, it bothers me enough that I'll solve it then put it back. :p

I used to be bothered if my 3x3x3 was unsolved. Now I don't really care anymore, and my puzzles are probably about 2/3 solved and 1/3 unsolved.

Years ago I started leaving my 3x3x3 one move away from solved to break the habit of being annoyed by an unsolved puzzle. At first it bothered me, but I tried to keep doing it to break the habit. What got me to finally change my mind about unsolved puzzles was that I realized that on a 3x3x3 there are only 18 possible states out of the 43 quintillion states that are exactly 1 move away from solved. I think that's pretty neat.

Also try leaving your 3x3x3 cube in the super-superflip (all pieces in the correct location, NONE of them oriented correctly). That's a neat state because subjectively it's so close to solved, and yet so far from solved at the same time.

For me unsolved puzzles are still disturbing. They are asking for solve.
Usually I do not leave my puzzles unsolved unless something got me away from solving in the middle of the solve.
