Lubix has a new logo!

Ok, after a couple of days getting a stock of new Ultimates ready and getting my new stickers made, I've relisted the cubes on eBay. I'll have them on my site as well on Sunday. In the mean time, you should be able to search for it on eBay in just a bit. (takes a few hours for the listing to be searchable, or I'd give you the link.)

From here out, Lubix cubes and lube I send out will have the new logo design (similar to my avatar), with a special version for the GuHongs that will only be available with the Ultimate cubes that are lubed by LubixCube :)

My printer also sorted out the cutting method so that the bottom right corner is rounded correctly on all the new stickers.

There is also a special center sticker for the Lubix "Elite" (my personal main) that will only come with that cube. I'll be giving out more details on this cube and it's mods in a few days.

The links on my site don't send you to the new listing yet, and instead go to the completed listing, so I'll fix the link on my site in the morning, and update all the info once I get back on my laptop. For right now, I've only got some black Ultimates ready, but by Sunday I'll have some of the white and stickerless ones assembled, lubed, and relisted.

I'll be shipping out all orders I get in by Saturday morning by Saturday afternoon. Miss that, and orders go back out on Monday when the post office opens again.

Thanks for the feedback on them so far, and would love to see some video reviews if anyone has the time.

Lubix Elite... can't wait.... (Ooo. I typed this from my ipod too! :p)

I Lubix-Lubed my own GuHong today.. much better. It still wont replace my main, but it made it much better. I think that's because I don't like Guhongs in general.

But really, Ima do a few averages with it to see how much more I like it than my previous main. Corner cutting is INSANE, and reverse cuts can cut almost A FULL CUBIE (more than 3 quarters).
I'll edit this later, giving my impression on solving with it.

Ok, this cube is awesome. My times have definately got faster. The GuHong is REALLY fast, so it will take a while to get used to. But when I do, I know I`ll get at a sub 20 average. My old mainspeedcube was slowing my solves down, especially LL. The GuHong is insane, I love this cube.

Corners cutting is insane because it comes very loose. In its original state, I can barely control my moves. I tightened it a lot. My cube is now still very fast, more controllable, much better for me, but corners cutting is less impressive. I used a store-bought before. It may explain why I need a tighter cube. Anyway I'm satisfied with this cube.

Did anybody tighten it?

I was ABOUT to tighten it. But after I did a whole bunch of solves, I got used to it, and now it is alot more controllable.
Just keep loosening a little, and get used to it. That unlocks its full potential imo.
 
Ok, so the Ultimate Lubix GuHong came today. These are only my first impressions, I'll write a more comprehensive review after I've had a couple of days playing with it.


First impressions: Yeah, it's nice. With all the hype, it was hard not to have some pretty high expectations of this cube, and I can't say if it's lived up to them or not yet, but I don't certainly don't dislike it, and that's saying a lot for a new cube.

One thing I will say, it didn't feel at all as I was expecting it to feel. It's far less springy and far more stable than I was expecting of such a corner-cutting cube. On that note, wow. Yep, the corner cutting capability of this cube is really very impressive. Initially, the smaller edges/centres (compared to the Memory) threw me a little. I actually favour edge bias over corner during F2L, so this was a bit of a handycap at first, but not by much.

As far as the Lubix goes, while I can't compare this cube to an un-Lubixed version, I can feel what I believe to be the effects of Lubix and I like it. I think the smooth turning of the Lubix could end up making up for the slight lack of spring. Additionally, in partnership with the tightly packed, rounded, interior components, the lack of lock-ups on this cube is very refreshing. On the counter, though, it can slip out of control and 'cause' you to turn a face unintentionally, forcing a re-grip + correction + re-grip which can be catastrophic mid-alg.

In the interest of fairness, I'll re-sticker the GuHong tomorrow with my own preferred sticker set and clean out and re-lube my Memory with Lubix (I just lubed that thing!) for a better comparison.

Summary: It's good. Good enough to be a main cube. Certainly the first cube I've liked since I started using the Memory. Good enough to be my main cube? Better than my Memory? We'll see. IIRC, it took me a few days to fall in love with the Memory, perhaps the same will happen here. For the few solves I've done, my times are about equal, perhaps marginally worse with the GuHong, but I expect this to change with the new sticker set and time to get used to the movement.

I'll probably be buying one in a while, is shipping still a flat rate of $1.75 internationally? I live in Ontario, Canada.
 
I received mine yesterday.
2 weeks to ship to Germany, a bit slow but doesn't matter. The cube arrived in perfect condition and I got an extra sticker set :tu
The cube itself... is a bit too fast for me at times :p But I guess I'll get used to it soon (it was the same for me with F2).
Also, I'll probably ending up buing some Lubix Lube in the near future ^^

The Elites I used at Cubetcha were all pretty nice. In fact, second place prize of the Elite was far better than first place prize.

Really...? I prefer the white, there are so many black cubes they're too common, white ones are rarer that's why I prefer the white, but each to their own as they say (whoever 'they' are) :)
 
Gah... Seriously!? I just bought the white ulg and now I discover Lubix is listing the elites next week T_T I won't be able to buy until january at least lol... THE GUHONG MUST BE SUFFICIENT D: < And it will.
