I won't analyse the third solve(19.17 fail), it took me wayyy too long to analyse the first two(with a lot of mistakes I'm sure), you can see for yourselves in the video.
I know all PLL and around 60% OLL, am averaging 17-17.5 and the cube is an AoLong v2.
HELP which is the easiest way to post a video?
edit: never mind, video too big for my poor internet connection

Your first solve doesn't work. did you mean y' instead of y after the second F2L pair?

I use ZZ. Learned COLL quite recently so recognition/execution is slow but getting better with practice, I'm mostly looking for F2L tips.

Personally, I would say work on recognition, and execution speed for your PLL's and COLL's. For F2L, try and speed up the amount of time it takes you. If your averaging about 17 seconds, get your EO down to about 5 seconds or less, and the entire F2L done before 12 seconds. Now I solve using CFOP, so I may not be the best person to give advice, but it seems your turning speed could be faster. Work on that.

Thanks, but, were you looking at the right video? Mean of the solves was 15.2, ao5 was 15.1, not 17. The longest it took me to do an EO line was ~2.5 sec so going to 5 sec would actually mean getting way worse at it. I will try to get faster at the f2l tho :)

[Video] Which areas do I need more practice in?

Firstly, if this post is in the wrong section, please move it. I think this would be the best section for this.

I'm usually don't post on the forum a lot, but I needed some help. I've wanted to get back into 3x3 after two months of practicing other WCA events. My problem is that I don't know where to start practicing, and what areas I need the most work in. There are lots of people on this forum who say to upload a video so they can help people like me out more. So hopefully I can get some feedback based on my needs.

These are the probably the best solves I've done in a while, even though they are from two months ago.

Thank you guys so much!

Cross to F2L transition; F2l lookahead but that will come with time.

Take as long as you need to plan out your cross in your head, close your eyes, and solve it and see if you did it right. Also, practice tough crosses here. Select 0 columns to get rid of the diagram, and try doing the 7 or 8 move difficult crosses optimally."

EDIT: Also, now seems like a good time to start learning full OLL.

From what I can see, there were some pauses in your F2L. Work on your lookahead, and maybe try to smoothen out your transitions between steps. Also try to improve the execution of your LL.

try to predict your first pair from your cross, or at least part of your first pair.

Two things I see that are obvious. You rotate to much and your lookahead could be better. One way to cure both of these is to do untimed solves and try to think out your current pair and next pair and do them with as little rotations as possible.

Besides lookahead which is a big thing you should work on to get faster, I noticed that on most of your solves you did waaayyyy more cube trootations than nessesary. On one solve I think I saw at least 10. You need to know how to insert your F2L pairs in the back and from many angles, and learn F2L algorithms for some of the cases that aren't so easy. Then of course do slow solves and practice looking ahead to the next pair.

Also, can you execute all of your F2L cases without looking? Because thats something you should try, it helps with looking ahead to the next pair when you dont have to look at the pair you're solving .

Hi, fairly normal average for me, normally been getting around 21.5 recently. Good mix of good and bad solves though. Any tips/critiques etc. would be very much appreciated.

White cross, f2l, 1/3 of OLL, full PLL.

PLL and OLL tps is decent, F2L is slow but smooth. Your biggest weakness is cross, as it is both slow and relatively unplanned. You should practice taking as much inspection time as possible to pre-plan all of the moves necessary to solve the cross, then try doing it blindfolded as fast as you can, until it becomes relatively easy.

Only other thing is maybe F2L tps, but that will come with time

Cross:
I think you would benefit from using more inspection. Make sure you use all of the time you are given since you often looked like you had difficulty finding you 4th edge.

F2L:
Your pair-solving techniques/algorithms are more than good enough for sub-20, but the importance of lookahead cannot be overstated. This will really help you to cut out ugly pauses and in time will help you to increase your TPS. You could maybe try practicing cross+F2L with a metronome app.

LL:
TPS is very good, but PLL recog can be improved. You could try learning 2-sided PLL recog to avoid doing ugly x and y rotations to recognise a case.

Also, although I am guilty of it too, don't give up on a solve halfway through, it is bad practice and, at least for me, it gives you an easy way to deal with a bad solve when you should learn to be reflective on your faults, not ignore them.

I completely agree with you. It's rare when somebody asks for help with a vid and the answer is so clear. Definitely cross. E.g.: the second solve has a 7 second cross, if you count also the pause until he spots the 1st pair. And then the solve is a 20.35, so the rest is just 13 seconds. With a comparably fast cross, let's say 2 seconds, it would have been a 15 second solve.

It's also rare to have such a bad cross and cross-to-f2l transition but then have a more than decent F2l, with somewhat low tps but great lookahead (almost no pauses), at least in the 1st two solves, which are the ones I watched. Then, as you say, pretty decent TPS in LL, only issue perhaps improve recognition of PLL cases (OLL recog is not bad).

So, practice cross until you can do it in 1.5-3 seconds

Hey guys I have a few solves that I did on 3x3, my average is 25.34. I already know some things I need to work on, but I was wondering what you guys have to say about my solves. Just ignore the 2x2 solve and you might want to mute the volume :P.

P.S. I mess up on the fangshi and start over so just dont count that solve.

Cross:
Your crosses are slow and they don't look very planned out. Your cross should be more planned out and should take around 3-4 seconds, or less.

F2L:
Overall your F2L is alright. Work on gradually increasing TPS without gaining more pauses. I noticed that you were doing U2s and U2's somewhat slowly. Find a better way to execute them.

Last Layer:
Your TPS for the last layer could be improved upon. Also, work on better recognition. On one of the solves, you did a U4' for PLL recognition which really slows things down. Try to eliminate these pauses and redundant moves.

I also did some solves, but no one ever critiques them. I posted here, then deleted it and reposted on the how to get faster with CFOP thread. It would be nice if someone gave me advice.

Thanks so much for the tips! ;D could you give me the link to your thread? :D

ok this is me at my absolute worst. I figure if I can get my worst better, then my best will too.
im kinda bummed out about cfop, and I don't want to give it up, but im not very good anymore, and am just getting worse.
sorry about the bad camera, bad quality, bad angle, and the bad solves :)
thanks. critique as much as possible
and idk how to embed videos, sorry.
