Hey! My name is Oliver, and I've been cubing for about a month, now. I've managed to get my 3x3 times down to about 35-45 seconds, and my PB is 33 seconds. I have 9 total twisty puzzles:
A New Island Pheonix(My main);
A Dayan Zhanchi(My first speedcube)
A Moyu Aolong v2;
A Shengshou 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5(Not sure the names of each, they came in a set);
A Mirror Blocks Cube;
and a Moyu Crazy Yileng.
I'm using CFOP for 3x3, and I learned 4x4 from 'Noah Richardson'. I decided to figure out the rest of my puzzles. The 2x2 I discovered was not unlike a 3x3, minus the center and the sides. The 5x5 was, in my opinion, a slightly easier but more tedious 4x4. I've moved on from my methods to faster, more developed methods. The mirror blocks is exactly like a 3x3, but with more thought process. I still haven't figured out the Crazy Yileng. I started out with a smaller, slow Rubik's brand. I got a Zhanchi in the mail, and was amazed at the speed as well as how smooth the plastic was. I then recieved a Moyu Aolong, and was further wowed. Upon recieving the New Island Pheonix, just several days ago, I decided to stick with as my main because I figure with it and some decent lubricant, it can't get much better. I enjoy solving all kinds of puzzles, and making things out of other things.
I can usually solve 4-look-last-layer in less than 10 seconds, and the hard part of solving the cube for me is look ahead and F2L. I am planning to get better, though. I find myself pretty good at finger tricks and I know the layout of the cube well. I use my non-dominant hand, which would be left, for one-handed. I plan to practice a lot over the summer when I have more time.
When it comes to non-cubing life, I have some tales. I have nearly died on two occasions- once when I was younger almost falling down a sewer, and another time, also when I was younger, driving a car off a cliff with my brother and falling a very short distance before getting the car stuck in between a 'Y' shaped tree. Yeah.
I consider myself to be more than a little nerdy, but I remember that I shouldn't really care too much what others think of me because they seldom do. Sonder- 'the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own' is basically stating that you probably aren't the main character in anybody else's story. I like to think I'm rather good at science and writing. I'm decent when in comes to maths. I am a little overweight, and I'm looking to fix that. My non-cubing hobbies are reading, music(I can play the clarinet, which further adds to my nerdiness, I suppose), making things, and playing videogames. I'm looking forward to Fallout 4, if anyone else here knows about that.
So, yeah. I think that's about it. I've been, well, 'lurking' here for a while and it's high time that I contribute. I look forward to chatting with you guys!
