[Member Intro] Salutations, comrades. A Chiknborger has boarded your ship.

Hi welcome,

What is your real name?
When is your next WCA comp?
Hiya,
My real name is something I prefer to keep private, so I don’t usually share or discuss it. Who knows, maybe my real name actually is Chiknborger 👀

I haven’t attended any competitions yet, but I’m definitely planning to join one once I get a better understanding of how they work and review the regulations again. Competitions aren’t very common where I live, so I’d have to travel quite a distance to attend one. I don’t mind that at all, but I’d prefer something more local for my first competition.

Welcome! A very unique member intro you have. In a matter of a few hours, you may be bombarded with questions from a certain pTr.

How did you start cubing and what is your inspiration?
Who is your favorite cuber?
How did you find this forums?
Thanks for the heads-up.

I had an old off-brand cube lying around when I was a kid, and I ended up peeling the stickers off in an attempt to solve it. Of course that made it harder, especially since I couldn’t solve it anyway. Around two years ago, I bought a Rubik’s cube with the intention of finally figuring it out. I’m not sure where the idea or temptation came from, but I’m glad it did. My inspiration is probably just the satisfaction of solving and improving.

I don’t really have a favorite cuber, but I do watch a lot of videos by cubers, especially from Namuun.

I checked my search history and saw that I landed on a forum titled "How do you calculate a DNF into an average?" on April 17th. I figured I might as well make an account, so here I am.

Hi,
This is Chiknborger speaking, specifically, a Chiknborger hailing from the kingdom of Norway. I got my first Rubik's cube a year and a half ago, then bought my first speedcube a few months later, which was the Moyu RS3M 2020. To this day, I main the Dayan Guhong Pro, which was one of my best purchases.

In total, I own 14 puzzles, including some WCA events and other non-WCA puzzles: 3x3 (x3), 2x2, 4x4, Pyraminx (x2), Skewb, Square-1, Megaminx, Mirror Blocks, Gear Cube, Rainbow Ball, and a squid-looking one I got from Flying Tiger.

To keep it simple, I’ll just list my times for the events I’m practicing the most as of posting this:

3x3: 13.3 single, 16.17 ao5, 18.53 ao12
4x4: 1:07.95 single, 1:36.36 ao5, 1:43.95 ao12
Pyraminx: 4.65 single, 5.72 ao5, 7.36 ao12
2x2: 2.13 single, 6.09 ao5, 6.89 ao12

I’m really excited to have joined this community, and I hope to learn many new things on my journey here.
welcome to the forums, king. u shall be aided by the members of the land called speedsolving.com

Sure, no worries

Happy cubing!

Hey everyone—especially you, @Caleb Valenzuela, thanks for the “heads‑up” on my surprise question bomb. Didn’t know spoilers came packaged with a username!

But since you’ve already ruined the suspense, here are the real questions I’ve been dying to ask this fine person:

  1. What was the very first cube you ever solved, and how long did it take?
  2. Which world record single or average blows your mind the most?
  3. What’s your go‑to method for breaking through a stubborn PB plateau?
  4. Cube maintenance: lube of choice and cleaning routine?
  5. Ever built or modded a custom puzzle? If so, what did you change?
  6. Which non‑WCA event do you wish were standardized?
  7. Favorite finger‑trick‑killing alg you’ve discovered recently?
  8. What’s your practice routine look like on a “bad‑luck” day?
  9. Dream cube brand collab that hasn’t happened yet?
  10. How do you psych yourself up—or down—before a tough solve?
  11. Best cube‑related purchase under $20 you’ve made?
  12. Biggest cubing myth you wish people would stop spreading?
  13. Who’s your under‑the‑radar cuber to watch in the next season?
  14. What’s the strangest place you’ve ever cubed (or cubed oddly)?
  15. If you could change one rule in the WCA handbook, what would it be?
  16. If your cube could talk, what catch‑phrase would it repeat after every solve?
  17. What’s the worst snack to eat while cubing and why is it kibble?
  18. If you had to solve blindfolded using only interpretive dance, how would you choreograph the final alg?
  19. Which Muppet would make the best cubing coach and what tip would they give?
  20. If your Dayan Guhong Pro was secretly a superhero, what’d be its superpower?
  21. You wake up in a world where cubes are currency—what’s the exchange rate of a 3x3 for a latte?
  22. What smell would you bottle as “Eau de Speedsolving”—and would it actually help your times?
  23. If you could cube onboard any fictional vehicle (TARDIS, Millennium Falcon, etc.), which and why?
  24. Describe your last solve using only movie titles.
  25. If cubes had mood rings instead of stickers, what color would yours be right now?
  26. You must replace one of your puzzles with a rubber chicken— which event do you still attempt?
  27. If there was a cubing-themed ice‑cream flavor, what bizarre mix‑in would you insist on?

1. The very first cube I ever solved was a Rubik's brand I got in autumn nearly 2 years ago. It took me around four minutes, I don't remember the exact number.
2. All of them.
3. I have no ‘go-to method.’ It’ll happen when it happens. I don’t force it.
4. Cuboss weight 6, Cubicle Silk and DNM-37.
5. I added corner to edge magnets in an off-brand Mirror cube.
6. Honestly, I'm happy with the ones we currently have. But it would be great if they didn't remove feet solving!
7. PLL stuff, don't remember the alg.
8. Sleep.
9. GAN and Moyu.
10. I don't.
11. DNM-37, probably.
12. Haven't heard any cubing myths. I'm not connected to the community a lot.
13. No idea.
14. In a classroom.
15. They look fine to me. I don't care much.
16. "Heisann og hopsann og fallerallera"
17. Potato chips, the flavour dust makes your cubes dirty. I don't eat while cubing, but this is obvious.
18. Easy. Sharp arm pops for U moves, fist pumps for R2, then a VERY dramatic spin and point to the sky for the final R prime. Now that’s blindfolded glory.
19. Ernie. "Don't rush it, take one step at a time."
20. It can lookahead for me and whisper the moves to me while slowing down time, giving me a chance to process and nail every move with perfect timing.
21. I’d say the exchange rate would be something like one 3x3 cube = 1 latte, but here's the twist: the quality of the cube determines the type of latte you get. A well-lubed and fast 3x3 might get you a premium latte with oat milk, while a stiff, unsolved cube might only get you a cold coffee made with bad beans.
22. Citrus. Of course, it would help with my solves. I take no stupid choices.
23. The Batmobile, it's sleek, fast and high-tech.
24. My last solve was a 3x3, done about 6 hours ago. I don’t really remember the details, but checking my csTimer, it came in at 16 seconds, which is a good time for me.
25. What are mood rings?
26. Square-1, only because I'm bad at it.
27. Rusty Moyu magnets mixed with cube pamphlets.
