I need help with my first blocks. How would you solve blocks with this scramble? My first block is usually around 15 moves. Second block is much worse. I place cross edge and solve f2l blocks. Any tips? :)

By placing cross edge and doing f2l blocks, do you mean you do dl edge then the rest as CFOP? You have the freedom to use the whole cube.
b R d' z' y r' U' R2 F //7

Welp my sb isn't that good but there ya go anyway

If you want to try something I used to do when I had worse times but getting to know roux is too not look for solved D pieces but to look as if other edges that aren't your cross color are just color neutral cross colors which you can connect with a bit of practise, i did something a little different because i saw an easy pair on top which would lead into the next with wide moves.

Any critiques GuRoux_?

Hello there, I am still a noob at Roux (average 16ish seconds) but here is the f2b I would do in a speedsolve for this situation
y’ E R F R2 F2 D2 z’ y (6)
R’ U2 R U r U R’ U R’ U r U2 r’ U’ R (15)

U' F2 L' R F' L2 R2 D2 B F R B F U F D' R' D2 U2 R2 B U' B' F' L U2 L' D B' F

Just play around with your orientations and look for different solution. For example I found this:

y' x U' F' L D' L U2 L' U' r B

And then I was looking for something better for second pair I couldn't find shorter solution but found this:

y' x U' F' L D'
(2) B2 R' B U r B'

y' x U' F' L D'
(3) B' R U M' B'

Last one gives 9 stm. Next I've started with the same scramble and orientation and found this:

y' x F' L' F2 U' L' U2 x2 (6 stm)

I am just a noob but it was easy in this case. You got whole cube in FB. Don't think the way you used to in CFOP.

This
Also here's a speedsolve that I'd actually do, not CN though so there are better ones probably
z' x2 R U D' F' R2 F U' r2 U L'U' B //11 if you count U D' as one move since... it kinda sorta is (I just can't remember which direction is E and which is E'), but 12 if you count it as two.
R' U R' U R2 U' R' U' r2 R U R // 12

Speed solve (9.47s):

x2 z'
R' U' R2 (B F)

After tinkering:

Ok. My solution:
Y' X
M F' D' B R' U' R B'
r' M U' R U r' U' r U2 M2 U' R
U R U2 R' U' R U' R2 U2 R U R' U R
R U' r' U' M' U r U r' M U2 M U' M' U2 M U2.
This is pretty ok. The blocks were good, but the rest was very unlucky with 6 flip and terrible cmll case. For your first block, find a pair of either corner edge or center and edge. The corresponding pair to the one you fin is usually under 3 moves to make, then 2 ish to insert. The last pair is 4-6 moves. The pair I saw was blue and white edge with blue white red corner. I saw that it pairs with the blue red edge and center, which are paired by orienting the edge, and then paired with D'. The last pair is pretty self explanatory, and is basically a way more efficient f2l pair. Second block is about the same.

y' x

L' U' L U' R U' L' U R' U2 L
U' M' U M U' M' U M' U2 M' U' M2 U M' U2 M2 U2 M'

8.70 speedsolve.

Wow nice. I got ninjad. That simple D2 ruined the rest of my solution.. u had 43 stm I had 51...

y' x
r' F' D2 R' D

better solution

Dammit ninjad again... didnt see that... probs wouldve if I wanted a move optimal solve. how can I work on planning better solutions in 15 seconds? I spend most of it picking my block.. thats the disadvantage of 4 blocks...

basically just get better at first block. i say if you find a good solution just use it. no need to check if the other blocks are better unless you have the time.

Havent touched a cube in 3 days... thats what vacation does to you... I hope I get faster because some people say taking a break for a while helps...

Can someone please explain how to read the Gilles corners table.

The first line of each case with the alg is simple enough for those that have them.

The second line seems to indicate where a case is the inverse of another case. Does this inverse mean to do the other alg in the same order but reverse direction on each turn? Also there are cases like B4 which says (C3)' but then C3 just says (B4)'. Neither has an alg. Ho do I derive the alg for B4 or C3?

What is the Sym() line about?
