[Help Thread] Pyraminx Discussion

I average 5 seconds on pyra and I think that I maxed out my potential with the method I'm using.
The method I'm using has 4 steps:
1. Orienting the centers and tips
2. solving 2 edges on the bottom side
3. Solving one edge on the top
4. Last 3 edges
It was how I solved pyra for the first time by myself (I did it by myself) and never bothered to learn anything else. I've decided to learn an advanced method but I don't know wich one to choose.
What advanced method should I learn?

Re: Pyraminx Thread

I've recently switched to 1 flip, so I'm not entirely used to it yet, but I try to inspect up L3E as well. It is definitely much easier to do with 1 flip than keyhole, I think. If it's a really tough scramble, sometimes I can't even inspect up to centers. T.T Then I just try to recog the flip case as fast as I can, haha.
If you can't inspect up to centres with 1-flip, try learning WO or Nutella (or both) where you have more chance on an easy top.

That method is pretty much intuitive L4E, although you should try to blockbuild as much as you can, which would allow you to reduce the first 2 steps into 1. Blockbuilding is pretty much solving edges while you get the centers, so instead of doing 3 or 4 moves per edge, it can be only 1 (or 0 sometimes). Also, don't orient all the tips at first; from my experience, it's best to save the one on the top for last. So, while you do the first two steps, try to get the three tips for that face solved, and save the last one for whenever you can fit it in. Instead of looking at it as centers, tips, edges, look at it as just making a V. That makes it a lot easier. Just for some motivation, I use this method and average ~3.8 seconds, and there are people much faster than I am who use it, so you definitely have potential improvement without changing methods. :)

My best event is Pyraminx, but I'm probably the worst at setting it up.
So,

One side turns really fast, and another side turns really sluggish and slower. I've tried evening it out with lube, and I've spent awhile trying to tension all sides the same, although it hasn't done anything. One thing to note is, I haven't ever taken it apart, so I'm thinking to try to lube it in there somehow.

I know it's hard to come up with a solution with the information I've given there, but is this common?

witch pyra is it?

What are the algs for the bell method and how do you use them? I heard that it's a good and easy top first method with a very few algs, so I thought it's worth taking a look at it. I coulnd't find anything about it tho... :/

You just set up the top so the the centers are solved and you can finish off the entire top with a sledgehammer (or hedgeslammer). It's not fancy, it's just fast.

Does anyone use a method like 1-flip but with two flipped edges? Here are the algs:

R' L U' R U' L
(U) L' U R' U L' R
L' R' L' U' R U R'
[L'] L U' R' L R U'
R' L' d L' U L
(U') R' U L' R' U L'
R L d' R L
L' R' d L' R'
L R' d' L' R
R' L d R L'

So i got a pyraminx very recently and i know the basic method but i get an average of 20.00 seconds if there is an answer thank you

Fast solvers usually know many methods and choose the best one. For beginners, keyhole is a good method to start with.
