Hi cubers.
I use fridrich method and my avgs are around 26 seconds; 5 seconds for the cross, 11 for f2l and 10 for 2 look oll + full pll.
The problem that I have is that I want to improve my times improving my f2l, and I have problems with that.
Of course, the key of getting faster with f2l is learning to look ahead, but I can't do that because I don't know to execute the cases with muscle memory. The problem that I have is that my f2l is pretty awful.
All that I do is put the corner and the edge on the top and then join and put them in the corresponding slot. All this performing lot of cube rotations and with no different-angle insertions; I put the pairs and rotate the cube so that I can join them with R and U moves.
So I can't fully perform cases with muscle memory: I need to rotate the cube and the U face until I can solve them as I said before.
I tried to practice doing f2l with forced multi-angle insertions and minimal cube rotations, and I can do it, but in 1 minute or so.
So, should I keep practicing that way? Should I learn algorithms to join pieces in different layers, or isn't it that bad to put both on top first? What should I do to improve my f2l?
Thanks
Just a confused cuber.
Note: I have been doing f2l for three months, I improved a lot with times, but still with an awful f2l.
