[Help Thread] Organizing official WCA competitions

Where can I find them on the wca site?

Your delegate will set up a competition site and you can use it for registration, and Luis will email you about cubecomps. Once you have everyone registered, you upload the sheet the WCA site gives you to cubecomps and you can print score sheets there. This is where having a good delegate makes a big difference.

As soon as you've got a potential venue and a bunch of dates, you should contact a nearby delegate. They'll be able to answer a lot of these questions for you.

I disagree with this in multiple ways. First off, you do get to compete and that's good. Second, you organizing in an area will encourage others to organize. In KC there are a couple people planning comps other than me, and I'm a big fan of that. Being able to compete is not the only reason you should organize, but it can be a strong motivator and leading factor to your decision, and that's fine.
You're probably right. Actually, thinking about it, the best competitions I've been to have been organised specifically because the organisers wanted to compete in certain events. I was meaning to say something more along the lines that your times suffer when you're the organiser, so if you really care about performing at your absolute best, you may prefer to wait for someone else to do the organising (if you're lucky enough to have other active organisers in the area).

Ok, thank you! Who do you know for a good delegate?

Pretty much any delegate is fine. What you want is to contact someone nearby and set up a channel of communication so that you can access to ask questions and bounce ideas off of them. Like Alpha Sheep said, the first thing is to find a venue you can use and come up with dates that work for you.

Ok great! Thanks.

That's what we're working on now.

And, should I contact the Cubicle before or after the comp is official?
