[Help Thread] One-Handed Solving Discussion

Practice with pinky, and always try to get the cube at the right angle. I also used to have trouble with that, and another thing that helped me, was to start on a smaller cube to practice the fingertricks, then eventually move up to a full size cube.

I did get my 50mm mini Z. It's great and things got easier right away. (One week I was averaging 46.xx with my Guhong, next week averaging 38.xx with mini.) Why should I move to a full sized cube eventually?

i like doing OH, but my only problem is doing OLL and PLL with 1 hand. It's like I have to re-memorize all the algs because my muscle memory is only good for 2 hands... I also need to get a mini Zhanchi, since my hands are barely large enough to do the R' with pinky...

Why would that help? I'm curious because i was gettig 16s on my 50mm today and 17-18 on my 55...

OH solving help?!

I recently got into solving the cube with one hand (Left Hand).
It's kinda hard for me to turn R' with my pinkey, and it feels awkward too.

Are there any "sexy moves / Combos" I can do to get faster?
I only use R and U in my solves, so please no L and D etc since I don't even know how to do them (I just want to stick with R and U for now)

I'm already doing the basic R U'

I have a Sheng En FII if anyone would be wondering.

Like asmallkitten says, it's weird at first but you get used to it. I found it very awkward at first too. I especially blamed it on my pinky being shorter than usual. It falls short of the first joint (the one closer to the fingernail) by a fair bit. Practice helps so much though... I used to find R U' R U (x5) pretty easy, but now it's easier for me to do R U' R' U' (x5).

I have a video of exercises below. Using the pinky is awkward for almost everyone when first starting. You get used to it.

Does anyone know a free program that can mirror videos?
I do OH with my RH and it would be easier for me to learn since you use your LH in this video (and the LH is used in most of the OH vids...)

The absolute best thing you can do to learn to practice is to watch asmallkitten videos. I started with those, and they are extremely informative. And you've probably heard this a thousand times, but it all really boils down to practice to develop your finger tricks. As for cubes go, the two best cubes I've seen are the Guhong V2 and the 55mm Zhanchi. With all of that I was able to go down from 30s to 15-17s. I hope this helped.

OH 2 look OLL/PLL Help???

I need help doing 2 look oll and pll for left hand oh.

Is there an algorithm to solve the cross after f2l with left oh?
Including the single dot, bar, and L cross cases?

I don't like F or fw moves so if possible, keep it in the R and U

I'm using the algorithms I find around the internet and forums for "chameleon" and Aa and Ab and they are not working?!?!?!
I prefer algorithms that only use the R and U faces so it's hard to find them around here.

Can anybody help?

I don't mind doing cube rotations, I just don't like to regrip the cube.
I use my pinkey and pointer for turning incase that helps
