I loosened the screws so you can actually turn it (lol) and did maybe 10 solves without lube. Then I put tons of Maru in it until it turned quite nicely. Additionally add some lube to the core when the screws have spring noise
just ask if you want further information

I average like 1:05 now what about for sub 1?
Also I'll try setting up my mega a bit better today, I'll see how it turns out

I modded my Shengshou megaminx around a year ago but it never turned out nicely, it still has a ton of catches. I modded edges and corners, leaving the centers unmodded. Is that y it catches so often or am I just bad at modding?

I would definitely mod the centers.
On my mega I haven't taken much plastic away from the corners and edges but a lot more on the centers.
I'm pretty happy with the result since I got down from 1:40 to 1:20 with almost no effort thanks to the mod.

Some of the sides of my megaminx (Dayan) turn much rougher and slower than others. Would this most likely be a tensioning problem? Or are they like that for some other reason.

Also, how do people lube megaminxes in general?

Most likely you just need to tension it properly.
I just put a bit of maru lube in one in a while.

Are you solving the last layer of megaminx using only the algs of 3x3 or studied different algs for megaminx last layer. Should we mandatorily do the EO, CO, EP and CP? Can't we do 1-look PLL to solve both edges and corners in one step?

yes: that's the next step after 4LLL but only the most committed learn it as it is a lot of algs.
