[Help Thread] Megaminx Discussion

has megaminx tripod been tried before?

so solve an ECECE block on the last layer at some point during the last two faces and preserve it for LL so you're just left with 3 corners and 2 edges to solve.
tripod seems well suited to mega because of all the different ways there are to build stuff!

i can't imagine the algs being very nice, but there are only 53 by my count (3 possible CP * 9 possible CO * 2 possible EO = 54 - solved case = 53) and recognition wouldn't be too bad (especially compared to megaminx PLL)
I've heard shadow slice e talk about it.

I originally proposed this here though I think the minitripod that I later proposed may be a better method.

How to solve a megaminx?

Can someone please tell me how to solve the megaminx. I have found no understandable guides on the internet concerning my megaminx. I am a beginner and have no idea where to start with it. It only came yesterday. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I am searching for a page with forced oll skips for megaminx, does anybody know if there is something like Winter variation? Did anybody ever generate a collecrion of algorithms like this?

only if you want to learn 1000+ algs.

The edges can be done with intuitive VHLS but but corners need 100+ algs IIRC so together you would likely get 1000+ cases. VLS is already something like 432 iirc

No it's the right post because I ask "what's the problem with learning 64 (or 81) algorithms"? Maybe I should've made that clear.

Edit: oh and maybe I misunderstood the context, my bad.

Generally, recog isn't great and the algs for OCLL are better and you don't have to fiddle around with edges first so 2-look OLL is better than VHLS+WVish thing.

how do you effeciently solve the 2nd to last centre at the moment im solving the left side normally ( i go anti clockwise) but then i have to do F' and solve two peices like lbl do F and then solve to last to peices.
is this effeciant?

What should my splits be for sub- 1:10?

Any tips on setting up the mf8 megaminx v3? I can't seem to get it anywhere near as good as my dayan. Do you have to dump lube in it like a dayan, or do you just have to break it in a ton?

I loosened the screws so you can actually turn it (lol) and did maybe 10 solves without lube. Then I put tons of Maru in it until it turned quite nicely. Additionally add some lube to the core when the screws have spring noise
just ask if you want further information :)
