[Help Thread] Megaminx Discussion

I'll surely try that. I'm trying to get used to looking ahead on the Megaminx. Seems very difficult to look ahead on the f2l part, s2l look ahead for me has improved a little bit. so, for Megaminx, there's absolutely nothing I can do apart from working on looking ahead, to improve, after getting to sub 1:40s right?

After sub1:40 it's mostly just looking ahead and turning quicker. Also, try to optimise your moves and not do lots of unnecessary ones.

It's very different. It's much smoother, and doesn't get random misalignments, however it doesn't corner-cut as much.

Mf8 v3 is more of a knock-off than the Shengshou from what I see.

I completely agree on this point! But the corner-cutting is just the usual mod that any good megaminxer has done to their mf8 or mefferts :) which I still haven't done to it haha!

So what megaminx do you think I should get?

Depends.
Ask yourself:
-Does your wallet like to give away money? (If yes, go for DaYan)
-Do you have time to spend on modding? (if yes, probably ShengShou)
-Do you even care about megaminx? (If not... ShengShou is cheaper and turns good)
-Do you even take the time to adjust the megaminx? (If you really can't spend 1 minute loosening it... DaYan xD)
-Do you think it's objective which megaminx is the best? (if yes, ask yourself this question again, until you realise that the answer is no :) )

okay :D I did my job :D (you may ask "y u never say MF8 v3???", because as far as I can read it's not released yet (prototype =/= released). But Correct me if I'm wrong)

Btw, I prefer DaYan, but ShengShou feels promising before the usual mega mod, so I am looking forward to the result of that :) (DaYan doesn't need that mod)

I predict you will be able to try a modded one like... tomorrow maybe ? :D

Megaminx Permute corners help

I'm just learning the last layer of the megaminx and I'm following the 'simple/beginners' LL method where you orient the edges, permute the edges, permute the corners and orient the corners.

On the PC step, most methods say:

R' Dfr R
AUF
R' Dfr' R
repeat

This works for me in some cases and in others (haven't identified the circumstances yet) leaves the Dfr layer in disarray.

Is there some simple assumption of order or something that I am missing?

Thanks

EDIT: So I just did a solve. 2 out of the 5 corners were oriented correctly and I did the above for the other 3 corners and it worked. The previous solve, all 5 corners were wrong and it failed.
