Magic Advice

I use the advanced method and can get fairly fast times (like 1.2-1.8) but then i timed myself on the computer with the space bar (holding the magic already and just tapping the button) and I was able to get an average of .7-.8, does anybody have any advice for me to get faster (mainly at picking it up)?

My friend told me to go slow when picking up. He has 1.22 official average.

Another question, how do you guys stop the timer? I kinda stop the timer and put the magic down at the same time (not drop it) and I have to use my wrist, which I heard is illegal. Is this true?

I slam it down as fast as i can but i ussually rush on putting it down and don't finish last turn

yeah, the wrist is illegal, a good idea would be to slam the magic onto the mat and slide your hands onto the timer.

Yea, you can't stop it with your wrists. I believe also your hands can't be in contact with the puzzle as you stop the timer.

That's really hard though...you have to make sure the puzzle does not land on the timer...

Can anyone make a video showing these techniques? Actually now I remember watching this Chinese video of ex WR holder explaining his techniques, I should dig that up.

1. computer timers such as cubetimer.com are horrible for magic
2. just pick it up from the center of both sides with rings facing up while folding it in half. for me it helps if you slide your fingers under the magic

Yea, you can't stop it with your wrists. I believe also your hands can't be in contact with the puzzle as you stop the timer.

• A6d) The competitor must fully release the puzzle before stopping the timer. Penalty: 2 seconds.

Yup. Breaking the oh-let's-slam-the-magic-down-and-not-let-go-of-it habit was really hard to do for me. Now I throw it kind of...

I stop the timer like many people do with Master magic, with the Palms of my hands, with my finger tips still on the magic. I avg. about 1.85 not too bad, but you need to relax and concentrate, but not too much, or you'll screw it up.
