My friend told me to go slow when picking up. He has 1.22 official average.

Another question, how do you guys stop the timer? I kinda stop the timer and put the magic down at the same time (not drop it) and I have to use my wrist, which I heard is illegal. Is this true?

yes. u have to stop the timer with ur finger tips and u cannot be holding or touching the puzzle.

Get a QJ Timer! I too have problems picking up the magic but even if I "cheat" like you did and hold spacebar w/my pinky I can't get 0.6 You should find rubiksmaster12 on youtube, he's got some insane magic videos.
