1. Practise solving every F2L case with eyes closed until you can do them all no problem.
2. As above, but now find another pair first, and track that second pair mentally with your eyes closed while solving the first pair. (What you are practising with this is two things - both tracking how the second pieces move around the cube, and solving the first pair without mentally tracking it. With exercise #1 above, the temptation is still to think about the pieces being solved rather than solving the case purely from muscle memory.)

I tried for a long time with metronome and it was never comfortable for me. Solving to a fixed beat just destroyed my muscle memory recall.
Exactly. I think I did better when I started slowly turning with look ahead. Thank man! I will definately give it a go and post the results :)

Lookahead Help

Please help me with look ahead. I have practiced it a lot, but still can't do it. I am very angry now and want help immediately!

I've always liked metronome practice-one turn per beat of the metronome, you're not allowed to miss any turns. Start as slow as you need for that to feel tediously easy and keep practicing. Gradually you increase your speed. Apart from that, just practice and focus on the next pair rather than thinking about the current pair. It takes a lot of time.

How do all you sub 10 solvers look ahead ? Do you track the pieces or do you predict ?

when a piece appears in my field of vision during second block, i will almost always see it and continue to track it and sometimes predict where it will be. a lot of the times you may need to deduce orientation and location of certain pieces.

best way to practice looking ahead!!!

I just started to learn to look ahead, but i am not exactly sure how to practice it. Would someone like to share their experience with it?

Should i learn to do F2L without cube rotation before starting to looking ahead? what do you say? My avearge is about 30 sec

I average sub 20 in 3x3. I have learnt full PLL and I am learning full OLL. I am practicing F2l. Is it really helpful to use a metronome for look ahead?

Hi, I average around 25-27 s on the 3x3. I recently decided to practice look ahead by slow turning and I find it impossible.
Whenever I try to find/track another pair while solving one, I just cannot do it. my brain cannot process tracking both a corner and edge while making sure the pair I'm currently solving goes in the right place. Yes, I know intuitive f2l and I can solve all cases blind. But somehow, if I don't pay attention to the pair that is being solved neither do I find a new pair nor am I able to correctly solve the pair I am on . That makes me extremely frustrated. I have been cubing for a year and most popular hit sub 15 by then. I can't even manage to keep a pair in my mind. What do I do? Keep only track of a single corner or edge instead of a pair? Hope for a pair to pop up in front of me after solve one like in my usual solves? Or learn the algorithms for all f2l cases and apply them blindly like pll? I seem like one of the people who just aren't made for cubing.

Should I post vids of my slow solves?
I don't think that explain the mess in my brain that's going on during the solve.
