Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

Is your last name pronounced Moose?
Nope lol, even Dutch people always pronounce my name wrong, because the way it is pronouced makes it seem as if it is written Meeuwse. It's quite hard to explain here because afaik that sound doesn't exist in English
Edit: found this video online, the 'eeu' in my name is pronounced exactly like that, and the e in -se is a schwa.

Also I'm back in the MBLD grind! Because I didn't do MBLD since October (except for that 5/5 safety yesterday) I decided to do a smaller attempt now, so I tried 20 cubes. I got a 20/20 in 42:52.95 [27:32.72]. Pretty satisfied with it, of course because of the 100% accuracy but also because I expected to take the whole hour because I supposed I lost some skills in the previous months, which apparently is not so much the case.

Jorian Mayoose?

Bruh I just got a 5.25 3x3 solve and my pb is 5.23

I hadn't practiced 3x3 in a while so I was just doing some solves to be somewhat prepared for comp, I'm happy to still be overall sub 9

Reconstruction:
D' F2 R2 D L2 D' B2 D' F2 D2 B D U' L' F' D B U2 L2 D
x2 y // inspection
R2 F D R D R2 D y' R' U2 R // xcross + 1 F2L pair, planned in inspection
y' U' R U R' // F2L-3
y' U R U R' U R' F R F' // ZBLS
U R U R' U R U2 R' U // LL, if only I had had the presence of mind to predict the PLL skip, I would have had a sub 5 now...
32 / 5.25 = 6.1 TPS

Wait so the comp is already the day after tomorrow and I've barely been doing 2x2, that's not good. All I've done is learn EG + AUF prediction but no LEG-1 yet and I've not done a lot of 2x2 solving so idk how good my 1-looking skills are. I won't learn LEG-1 before the comp anymore, I'll just check if I remember EG-1 and EG-2 and then grind a few hundred solves. I'll also try to do 25 cubes MBLD for weekly comp today.

MBLD weekly comp went well! 25/25 50:57.87 [33:25.80].
Very nice time management in the last 30 minutes, because after I was done memorizing the first 12 cubes I seriously thought I was in trouble because it took over 19 minutes. I somehow memorized the next 12 cubes in 13 minutes, and decided to super-safety the 3BLD cube so used a full minute for memo on that.

bro i would need an hour of memo

Comp tomorrow!
I want to get double PRs in every event I compete in (2x2 - 5x5, sq1). I would love to get a sub 2 2x2 average and a sub 9 3x3 average but knowing my previous comp performances, I don't expect it. (Even though sub 9 3x3 isn't even all that good for me smh)

Btw I didn't practice 5x5 at all, I doubt if I've done a single 5x5 solve in 2023 ouside of the weekly competition lol

I just realized I might have made a mistake during the comp saturday. The worst solve in my 2.30 2x2 average was over 4 seconds, but during inspection on that solve the judge didn't call 8 seconds. I got really focussed on when he would say that and I think that might have been the reason I messed up. If I had asked for an extra and gotten one with a sub 1.95 time, I would now have a 2.13 average...

Does anybody know if this would have been reason enough for an extra solve?
