Jorian Meeuse's progression thread (Kinch WR230 ER70 NR4)

2-7 attempt #4: (doing these weekly now ig):
Time: 1:02:31 [36:44.97]
2, 3, 4, 7 solved
First time I solve the 4x4 in one of these lol
Time spent on 7x7: 25:38

Mistakes:
5x5: JC QU in the wrong order. I actually guessed the order of these because I didn't remember, and unfortunately guessed wrong
6x6: skipped two algs during inner wings
6x6: mistraced NF as MF during inner x-centers
6x6: missed a 2-swap of outer wings

Happy with the time but memo was a bit slow so hopefully the success will be sub hour

And I've been doing a bit of practice with turning 9x9 layers blindfolded and I feel pretty confident with that, so I might do an attempt on that soon

I tried 9BLD, the time was 1:28:29.38 with 37:27.86 memo. It was pretty close, I only made two really avoidable mistakes:

1. Did the alg for NB during an x-center type, even though I had correctly recalled MB.
2. Didn't do the last move of [2l U 2l' U', 3l2]

No slice mistakes!

Don't know when I'll try again because exec is not fun since my 9x9 is the cheapest one I could find. I'll probably go for 2-7 BLD first because that takes less time anyway

2-7 BLD attempt #5 (second this week because I probably won't have time next week)
Time: 57:58.83 [32:53.63]
Result: 2, 3, 4 solved

Mistakes:
7x7: Missed 2 unsolved obliques during memo
7x7: Skipped an inner x-center alg somehow, even though I am certain I thought about that pair during execution of the pair before it
6x6: Wrong oblique type on one alg
5x5: Stopped tracing one piece too early on wings

I felt quite confident about this attempt, so it's kind of annoying that I made four mistakes, but sub 58 minutes makes up for it. Maybe the success will even beat Enoch's!

Had a comp today, the only thing I practiced was a little bit of megaminx because my kinch score for that was really bad. That went really well with a 1:04.23 avg (14 sec reduction) and a 59.04 single, funnily enough PB2 and PB3 respectively. All other events I hadn't practiced and didn't expect anything, yet in all of them I actually got really close to getting something good, but didn't quite actually get anything:

- 3x3: I got a 7.87 avg (PR is 7.86) but the 3rd solve was a 9 which should have been a 6. It was antisune PLL skip but I did the wrong antisune into U perm and +2ed. Should have been a 7.43 avg. Then in finals I DNFed a 5.61. The OLL was fat antisune and I was almost certain it was a PLL skip so I decided to risk it but got a J perm DNF, oopsies
- 2x2: 2.07 PR avg but still not sub 2 somehow
- clock: counted a 4.38 (on the ER scramble, actually) and then DNFed the average. Inverse move out of sub 5 avg. Guess I'm stuck with the 6.91 for like another year
- sq1: 28, 13, 16, 15, 26, stupid parities
- 7x7: missed cutoff by 2 seconds and PR by 1 lol

Next comp might be in may but 3BLD is on sunday again so idk if I'll go

Sub 6 soon ig?

PLL skip at precisely the right time to get a sub 6 average

I have 4 official multi attempts coming up so I think I will practice again. I did recently make better words for a lot of my letter pairs so hopefully I will get used to those before the first of these attempts lol. Luckily the attempt for nats is only in september so that one should be safe.

Also I will win MBLD at Euros next year (I want to say 'try to' but they say confidence is key right?)

I got an official 43/45 1:00:00 yesterday! Pretty nice, 41 points (and we're ranking neighbours now @GloopyGum!)
I didn't remember the first two cubes I memorized so I let the time run out trying to recall them after solving the rest, and was happy to find out that everything else was solved. There was one cube that had a very weird lockup, like I couldn't turn that cube at all because a corner was lodged quite deep into the cube or something. I put it aside to fix if I had time left, and then just started pulling as hard as I could on that corner and somehow didn't loose orientation or mess up where I was in the solve when it happened. There was one more cube I couldn't remember at first but after like a minute I did. The other two I'll blame on the crying kid at the very start of the attempt (ok maybe that's not entirely fair lol but hey it were those cubes I DNFed)

On the second attempt I immediately started messing up the order of all my rooms and basically everything stuck quite poorly and I got 34/45 57:57. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have done another big attempt because I wasn't gonna beat the 43/45 anyway and this really messed up my ability to function lol (yes I tripled 4BLD and 5BLD finals)

In 4BLD first round I got a 2:24.something, not NR but fine for a safety. In finals there was a very free scramble, I believe it was 22 algs. After memo I thought I'd get a 1:30-1:40 ish but then I screwed up some wings and DNFed. It's fine, I'll get it someday ig

Oh and I got a 19.73 in 3BLD first round (10 algs), not anything special but nice to have a sub 20 at least. In finals there was a 9 alger which of course I had the worst turning ever on, and I got a 21. And there are still a 28 and a 24 in my PR mean (28, 24, 19 -> 24) that's a bit sad lol

Well this was frustrating, I tried safetying official bigBLD means last saturday and I DNF'ed only the last solve in both 5BLD (2 wings) and 4BLD (3 wings bc inverse comm). Luckily I get to try again this friday. On multi I got 39/45 59:42, nothing to complain about really.
Not this again... 5BLD 3rd solve DNF by a mirror alg (mirror, not inverse, idk how that happened). 4BLD 3rd solve DNF by 2 centers. Would have been quite decent means too this time.

Also I didnt win multi lol, I hadnt practiced since the last comp so figured I could safety 34 to win nats but it turns out I suck at safetying lol, 30/34. I'll practice next time probably

Mhh I've kinda quit cubing tbh but I was doing some 3x3 for an upcoming comp and got the lamest PB ever

4.10 L2 U R2 D2 B L2 R2 U2 F U2 L2 B R B D' L B2 R' F2
x2 y' R' L2 F' D' R F2 U R' U' R y' U' R' F R F' R2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R'

Almost half the amount of turns of my previous PB (4.25 in 40 moves)

Quite funny that even a 24 move solve isn't sub 4, like this genuinely could've quite easily been sub 3. But whatever lol

Figured I would at least practice some MBLD before Euros because otherwise I'd feel bad for whoever would've qualified had I not registered lol

So here's the first attempt (bar some 9 cube attempts to re-familiarize rooms and letter pair words) after the 30/34 from nationals last september:

37/41 58:50.10 [33:42.94]
Quite pleased with the memo time, but I feel like I can still improve that a lot. And of course my signature terribly slow execution haha

I think it was 3 forgets and 1 tracing error. Next time I should try not forgetting and not erroring ig
