I have searched the forums regarding this, but no post/thread really seemed to answer the question...

How many timed solves do you do during a day? Do you find that doing a 'large' amount of solves even helps your times? Do you feel as if you have gained progress through timed solves alone?
The reason i ask this is that i am aiming for sub-20, and based on the responses i want to see if doing more timed solves will actually help me achieve this goal.

Right now i average 34 seconds with a personal best of 27 (with slightly frequent sub-30's)
I have been cubing for 2 and a bit months.

I understand that their are more measures to take to increase progression and i do a lot of those things, this thread is specificly for this question.
please note that i have already looked for similar threads/posts.

Thankyou.

It really depends. For 3x3, sometimes, I do an Ao100. Sometimes, just 30. For 2x2, sometimes either 50 or 100. 4x4 I only do an average of 12 per day. But every other day, I hardly do any solves. Today, I haven't timed any solves.

And for whether more solves make you faster, 5BLD shaved a whole second of his averages by doing the 10,000 cube marathon (sub-10 to sub-9).

During school I only time during lunch or something if I time myself at all and don't really practice at home so I usually only time like 30-50 solves a day out of probably over 200 or something solves

I usually do an Ao50 every day, timed, and I do think it helps my times, at least at the stage that I'm at (~25 seconds).

Completely depends on the day.

0-300 2x2 solves a day
0-200 3x3 solves a day
0-50 4x4 solves a day
0-25 5x5 solves a day
0-25 6x6 solves a day
0-12 7x7 solves a day
0-5 8x8 solves a day
0-12 BLD solves a day
0-2 multi blinds a day

Genrally 90% of the time I do about 50 2x2 and 3x3 solves a day.
