how far can you cut into a v-cube 7?

If you're modding a v-cube 7, what exactly are the "boundaries" of where you can cut into the cube without destroying it?

P.S I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this question, seeing as this fourm is more about speedsolving than modding, but it's one of the few cubing fourms I know about and definitely the best.
