Garf's Progression Thread - Beating Hard Levels in GD (Hardest is Bloodbath)

I'm taking a look at nemesizer and it looks like I have only 62 nemesis to beat. The closest I could knock out is Timothy Castle with his 49 mega average vs my 51 mega average. I plan on going to Central Washington Odds which will hopefully let me get good results for 5x5, 7x7, 3x3, and mega (also OH and BLD)

Before you ask: NO, I did not die lol.

I've been on the forum for almost 5 years or so. It's been a crazy time for me, learning about cubing and progressing as much as I can in a lot of events. I'm not the craziest cuber in the world (5 podiums lol and not even gold SMH). What I have going for me though is a lot of respect from a lot of people that I've met over the years, some who are faster than me in cubing, some that are slower, and some that are my level in some events.

One of the goofiest things a faster cuber asked me was "Wait, you're learning full-pll... on mega?" From Sammeer Aggrawhal.
One of the most common things someone asked me was "Wait... you can solve that?"
And yes, I can.

I'll just get straight to the point: I'm wanting to head off to college in a few months after I graduate High School, and I'm in a terrible need of money. And I don't plan on cubing forever. Just enough that when I'm older I can still impress people with a skill I learned like, say, 30 years ago or something. However, I'm selling most of my collection as a way for me to earn money. I don't expect to take a lot in, but I hope I can interest you in my collection. Here's the spreadsheet if you are interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZUU5CrOiayj2N_pRH6RrWl3B_8QjEWqf9H9Q97_wzOE/edit?gid=0#gid=0

And IG this is rip progression as well. It'll be more challenging for me to progress with all my other life goals in mind, so there's that. Cubing has been a great tool, but also a great distraction from what I want to do in life as well. And figuring out what I want to prioritize: a high paying job in Computer Science, or playing with puzzles for who know's how long in the future? Both sound fun, but computer science ftw.

Who know's what the future holds. I might end up buying more cubes once I actually have a decent job that isn't making tacos and quesadillas. That;ll be some years into the future.
But all good things must come to an end and I guess this is our time.
So so long, farewell, and I’ll see ya on the other side.

But it's not goodbye forever.
I'll still be with you guys together.
And maybe if you guys persist I'll give it another try...

Cheers,
-Garf

It's sad to see you leave, but at least you made some huge improvements before you left. Getting 2nd fastest Anthony single was really impressive, as well as being highly placed in most other events, and having Anthony record in 7x7 and Mega! It's a shame you couldn't get the WR's that you wanted, but focusing on your future and adult life is definitely a smart move. Good luck with Computer Science, maybe cubing can make a comeback in your life once you find your place in the world.

It's sad to see you move on, but everyone has their priorities in life. I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors. (my brother is also a CS major)

So long, my lasagna-loving friend!
Well, now that I actually have more time,
I haven't been on the forums for very long. I've only been here for two years, unlike your five, and I spent the first year only competing in the weekly comp before I began posting. Though in the short time it would take me to go from the site's main page to click the competition tab, you were the main name I would see on threads. And, I don't know, I suppose your name just stuck with me. Without knowing it, you've inspired me to practice events, learn algs, be active on the forums. It's been an honor to at least have known you while you've been active. Obviously sad as its the end of an era, but it shall be exciting to see where you will go from here. So now I will say again, so long, my lasagna-loving friend!

I have good news and bad news. Good news is that I might be coming back to cubing. Bad news is that my chances of going in-person tk central might be slim due to costs and how much I can work without being overwhelmed and procrastinating a lot.
How many times have you said, I am quitting cubing just to say, ahh never mind?
