Well, I’ve been speedcubing for some time. But lately, my mom thinks that my speedcubing is affecting life - school, getting a job, etc. She told that if I don’t get a job this summer, then she’ll take all my puzzles away. Well, it’s summer, and no how hard I’ve tried, I just couldn’t get a job. Right now I’ve sent out a bunch of applications and waiting it out, but when those jobs will get back to me I’m not sure. So for now, no more speedcubing for me, and goodbye attempt at WR. I’m also not going to be posting on here, since this site will just remind me of all my past failures. So… goodbye for now, and may all of you get faster times than me.
(If you guys think about getting a petition signed for me to continue speedcubing even without the job, I’ll appreciate it.)
Signed.

Personally, I will not be signing this petition. While I don't agree with Garf's mother's decision, it is her decision to make and not ours. I don't know him personally and as such it is not my place nor anyone else on this forum's place to attempt to change this decision. While this petition is well-intentioned, it comes off as disrespectful and most likely will be ineffectinve.

I 100% agree. my mother takes my puzzles if I have bad grades or something else of that nature, so I feel the pain, but its disrespectful to try and force her to change her decision

I agree with the users above me that the petition might do more harm than good. Bringing a petition to your parents would almost certainly make them less likely to make decisions in your favor, as you’ve opened up something between you and your parents to the input of miscellaneous people online. This would show that you aren’t willing to work with them, and it could really affect the trust between you regarding this situation. I would definitely keep trying to get hired, let your parents know you are trying (and ensure you are doing everything possible—I’m not saying that I don’t believe you are), and remember that this isn’t the end of your cubing career. In the very worst case scenario that your cubes are taken for the summer, know that people take hiatuses constantly and come back even stronger! I sure know that I did. Keep your head up, and remember that working with your parents on this rather than against them will make them more likely to reason with you.

do you think i give a fudging s*** if it's ineffective?
This response is rude, immature, and is not valuable or edifying in any way. If you have a real argument against what I have said, then please. respond with that. But this does nothing.

Don’t even bother engaging with the multitude of cringe children on the site. Just hit the ignore button on their profile and never see them again : )

Its truly a wonderful feature.

@VincentCuber thank you for deleting that post. I hope you won't post stuff like that again.

Same here, my parents can be threatening, but they know that ever since I started cubing my screen time has gone down by 90%

But but.... but cubing! Nah i get it, it's important to have a job and to develop a good work ethic, especially at a young age. I started working my job when I was 15, and it was the best thing i ever did! Still love it, still doing it today, and hope to do it for a while in the future. Only downside is I have to get up at 1:30 in the morning, but nothing a bit of coffee can't fix! ☕
