Just wondering if there are any Petrus users that were once Fridrich clones (rofl, okay, not CLONES, just users)...

I became interested in Petrus when i realized my Edge/pair blockbuilding skills were not horrible and I understood Intuitive F2L to a point where I believed i could learn petrus...

I got 1:12 on my first timed solved (just now), which i don't think is horrible since I remember a LONG TIME AGO (when i first started cubing) I couldn't even understand the 2x2x3 block in petrus...

Also, I just wanted to know how you would recognize the bad edges quickly after building the 2x2x3; the F2L after that is quite easy for me (sub-5), and the LL (since the cross is built) is ~14 sec if I get a 1-look PLL (hehe, learned 12/21!! ^^)

I was browsing this forum as well as YouTube and the Wiki; are RUR' and L'UL triggers the ONLY ones that can fix two edges at a time, or is there an intuitive way to fix more than 2 at once (if applicable -- and how would one recognize them??)

My theory is that if I "master" (to a point) Petrus I could use it in competition where during inspection if i found an easy cross I'd do Fridrich and if i couldn't solve x-cross/cross in 5 moves i'd use Petrus... sub-20 avgs ftW!! ^^ (I'd want to get my Fridrich solves down to sub-20 first, obv. xD)

NOTE: I just looked at Petrus's site for the bad edges; they're all in diagrams and flash-y things!!! too confusing, I'm used to notation... :((

Does anybody have any sites that has the cases for bad edges in NOTATION (since I memorize them easier that way... diagrams and flashy things have gone over my head now. :(()

EDIT(2): second solve: 56.75
w00t... only 2 bad edges though, not hard... :\\

EDIT(3): I just did a Fridrich/Petrus decision solve in my 15 second preinspect; I ended up LITERALLY doing an x-cross because i built a block and saw the two perfect cross alignment + 2 edge pairs...

38.49. ROFLZZ

So new question as well as what I've posted here: Does the 2x2x2 or 2x2x3 block help improve x-cross building skills (if used correctly)??

I just used the rules Lars gives on his site and pretty soon it became really easy.

That's not bad. I hope you are using Steps 4a and 4b instead of "cross" and two ce-pairs; in the long run the Petrus way is much better.

R U2 R', R U' R', R' F R, R' F2 R, R' F' R, L' U2 L, L' U' L, L F L', L F2 L', L F' L'

Also occasionally useful is R F U' F' R' and its variations (it fuses nicely with S2).

or is there an intuitive way to fix more than 2 at once
R L' U R' L

Other than that, just use a combination of the 3-movers.

You shouldn't be memorizing them. Just learn the simple ones listed above and try to understand them. The longer "algs" are just combinations of simpler ones.

I'm not good at x-cross but I think 2x2x2 should be really helpful. Step 2 maybe not so much.

What do you mean?
-- I only use the two sides I have left to make the CE pairs, and I do them while I build the block on the bottom (so all 3 are inserted together)...

The last one HAS to be a CE pair in order to go in, so why wouldn't I use the empty slot I'm given (while still using only L/R and U)??

I'm not too sure what you mean, but what he is saying is not to place the RD edge first(that is if you do step four with R and U like you should), and to use the most effiecient way of solving F2l, not using only a Fridrich approach. Meaning dont make a cross kind of thing coming off of the 2x2x3 block, just solve it like step 4.
