As a physicist, I've naturally always been fascinated by the Rubik's Cube – but I never actually learned to solve it when I was young. After someone gave me one at a trade fair, I decided it was finally time. The beginner's method was quickly learned; now I want to get faster. To get all those CFOP algorithms into my no-longer-quite-so-young brain, I looked for an app to help me. Since nothing quite suited me, I wrote my own – without annoying ads or subscription fees.
What the app does:
Besides English, the app is available in German, French, Italian (as a Swiss, practically an obligation) and Spanish. I have some knowledge of these languages but I'm far from fluent in all of them, so if anything sounds odd, I'd be very grateful for a hint.
At the moment the cube is controlled via the touchscreen. I'm already testing a version that also works with a smart cube (GAN i4 or GoCube).
What the app does:
- all 41 F2L, 57 OLL and 21 PLL cases, plus 2-look OLL
- Learn mode: the algorithm is demonstrated move by move on a virtual cube
- Quiz mode: you perform the algorithm yourself, the app checks the result and compares your moves with known algorithms
- spaced-repetition reviews and a guided CFOP course that introduces the cases step by step
- save your own algorithms, statistics per case
- free, no ads, no account, works fully offline
