I know that this happens, putting one F2L pair and as you put in that pair you line up another CE pair. Is it more of luck than looking ahead? It's happened to me quite a few times lately. Could using this decrease times even more, or just wind up about the same trying to set up pieces or learning more algs?

If you have the FR pair completed in the top layer at UL and UBL, there are three basic ways to insert the pair. On instinct, you'll probably do U'RU'R', but you can also do RU2R' or U2R'FRF'. Each preserves or alters certain pieces on the top layer. However, unless you see the next pair and know which one to use to preserve it or set it up, you should just do what you normally do. It's more useful for 1h though because you're able to see a lot more.

I think you are refering to multislotting. I only really know of one person who uses it, which is Sebastian Felix. Who created a whole list of algs to pair up two pairs at the same time.

It's not multislotting technically, because you don't insert two pairs at once. Instead, you set up the next pair while solving the current one so that the next pair can be easily inserted.

Try: L'U'LRU2R'U'

Your first instinct would be to do RU'R. But if you can spot the FL pair, your alternatives are UL'U'L first or URU2R' first. It's nothing more than a subtle way of positioning pieces so the next pair would be easier. It's nice when you see it and execute it correctly, but if you don't, just do what you normally do. The only times I ever do this is during 1h, and mostly when the current pair is completed on top, and I see either a corner or edge pair stuck in the slot I'm about to insert into.

That IS the definition of multislotting...
Read more about Sebastien Felix multislotting algorithms on my site I have all his cases listed there.

maybe on larger cubes maybe? I could see myself wanting to learn this kinda stuff later on..
It doesn't really matter what size cube you do it on. [/b][/quote]
many feel held back by the fact that there are more slices (I know I do)
so, same reason as like you said about OH

David: I think you can call your situation "easy" as opposed to lucky. If you are solving a pair and another pair lines up, that just means you got an easy case. It is probably one of the most uncommon cases out of all F2L CE cases, but it does happen.
