[Help Thread] Cubing Injuries?

Actually, I hurt my right index finger today playing basketball. :/ I'll obviously have to lay off the cubing until it heals, but I just hope it doesn't take very long.

I would recommend seeing a doctor as it does not seem like an injury that will heal with rest. I usually injure my while playing basketball. The longest it took to heal was about three days.

Ummm, honestly why are you asking here? Whenever I have an injury I use the PRICE protocol (protect, rest, ice, compress, elevate). If it doesnt go away soon, then I go see a doctor.

Yours has gotten worse and has been their, go see a doctor. You may have a muscle issue.

When I was in primary school, my left arm froze up. There was a blood clot in my left arm and since that was tied to my left hand and that was my writing hand, I missed 7 weeks of school. Six weeks to cure the clot, and one week to re-learn to write again at home. The good news is this happened in 1979 before the Rubik's cube swept the world in 1980/1.

So, if I had the same problem now, I'd quit cubing until my hands and arms were allright again.

I have done a few OH solves on a 3x3x3 personally. My PB is 5:41. Not the best but it is out there.

I'm asking here because this was an injury who's major influence was the cube, and i was wondering if anyone else had similar stories of long lasting finger injuries. And i'm probably going to see a doctor about it soon.

Your issue sounds pretty serious. Mysterious pain after stress from sports, piano, and a hobby that works that part of your body over and over and over. I had something very similar to that, except back then I was playing Super Smash Bros. Melee 3-4 hours a day. My right index finger starting hurting. I rested a while. Then it came back. Turns out I had tendonitis in just the one finger. It was actually what got me to stop playing video games. The point is, even something small like finger pain can drastically change your life (SSBM was my life back then).

I've lived through broken toes, fingers, ribs (actually, just the one), Little League elbow, chronic migraines, and multiple collisions at home plate. The only time I actually went to a doctor was for the migraines (cured them myself in the end) and for the broken rib. Otherwise I just iced it, elevated it (makes ALL the difference), and slept it off. Everything was just about normal in a week, which is my cutoff point for medical attention.

If you rested it for 2 weeks and it still isn't all right, go see a doctor. In 2 weeks your body gets rid of swine flu, pneumonia, mildly broken bones, and basically everything short of near-death experiences and HIV/AIDS. I highly recommend a doctor visit.

Well, I broke my M' finger in football. I just put a splint on, and kept on cubing.

Anyone had cubing injuries?

I recently got an F2, and since I started using it my left index finger has been bleeding where the skin meets the nail. I was wondering if anyone else has had any type of injury that is cube related?

You know when you jam your finger against a basketball ? And then you can't bend it and you have to hold it together with a bandaid. Yeah, instead of a basketball, it was a cube. I can't remember what though.
