[Help Thread] Colour Neutral Discussion and Help

Hey everyone I just want everyone to know I am completely down to do skype vids if you have any questions about transitioning or CFOP in general. I don't really do much more than CFOP and its derivatives just FYI, although I am good at blockbuilding so I could help a little with the first few steps of Roux and Petrus as well. Just thought I would throw that out there in case anyone feels really lost or just wants to chat about cubing. I am a busy person, but if we arrange a meeting beforehand I will do my best to make it.

Hmmm doesn't feel that close. I think when you are faster, 2 seconds is a bigger difference than when you're, say, sup-40.

CN Training Day 11 (blue)
I really didn't do much today. Started training late and then was busy. Did some untimed solves, but on the timed side I only did 75 F2L only with blue cross solves. Felt more or less like a continuation of green. Not the same, but more or less the same of course. On my one and only full timed solve, I got 16.17.
 
CN Training Day 12 (blue)

Best Ao5 = 17.57
Best Ao12 = 18.22

Looks like a slight but continuing improvement from Day 9 which was the last day I did green only. (Day 10 was green and yellow and Day 11 I didn't do much.) Did over 100 F2L only with blue cross but only 30 full solves. I'm fairly pleased. Few more days of blue I think. Hope I can get a sub-18 Ao12 in that time.
 
CN Training day.... eh... about 5 weeks...

I have not been timing for the last few days. Doing mostly slow solves. Today I warmed up for the race to sub 30 and these where my warm-up solves:

Best average of 5: 28.69
1-5 - (30.88) (21.41) 29.62 26.69 29.75

The 21.41 was on blue. I was very surprised with these times.

Then my entry for the race to sub 30 was about the same:

Average of 12: 28.57
1-12 - 27.33 26.10 (34.82) 28.27 28.72 26.72 27.09 28.42 34.69 (22.58) 28.72 29.62

Looks like I am getting ready for my white cross times on color neutral ;) Whoohooo..
 
CN Training Day 13 (blue)

Best Ao5 = 17.04
Best Ao12 = 17.65

Quite nice. Rather comparable to white cross times. My F2L practice today went similarly even though I still am a little slower. Definitely don't notice having to think hard or anything. Caught myself doing green cross a couple times by accident. This was during F2L only practice and I didn't realize it until I started scrambling for the next solve that I had done green instead of blue. So I can see how CN people say they sometimes can't tell you what colour cross they just did.
 
CN Training Day 15 (blue)

Didn't do much yesterday. Actually no timed full solves. Just some F2L. I've been tired the last few days for some reason. Today did 161 F2L only timed solves. Only one timed full solve. Singles don't really mean much, but still...

Today's single on blue cross: 14.78

Pretty nice hehe. I think tomorrow is supposed to be a yellow/green/blue day. Hmm... kinda like a bruise...
 
Today I did a Ao150 and had a 31 something. I was hoping for a sub 30. The first 50 where actually sub 30.

You're welcome. Finger trick advice: try to do F moves without rotating the cube. Flick it the same you would flick U, so you'll need to adjust your RH grip, but try doing it without changing your LH grip or tilting the cube too much. A good exercise for this is to do (R F R') (R F R') again and again, F with RH index. Then try (R F2 R') (R F2 R') double flick the same as U2. Then move on to (R F' R') (R F' R') using either RH thumb, RH index or LH index (which ever is brest for you).
Also, when finishing cross, if you need to do an F2, instead of (x U2 x') you can do (y' R2).
 
CN Training Day 17 (red)

Best Ao5 = 18.48
Best Ao12 = 19.78

First day of red cross. I think it's easier after having trained green and blue because of getting used to other colours. Again training F2L only a lot. The first 30 F2L only solves are really hard on the brain but then it gets better. The averages above are out of only 38 full solves. Just to compare, these were my green cross times after the first day of training green:

Best Ao5 = 19.09
Best Ao12 = 20.03
 
Yesterday I had my first Ao100 sub 30. I only had a few white crosses in these 100. The fastest time was a green cross (21 something). Today I did a quick Ao50 to see if anything had changed (for the worst) but I found out that I am true sub 30 COLOUR neutral:

Mean: 29.71
Standard deviation: 3.82
Best Time: 21.76
Worst Time: 38.76

Best average of 5: 26.49
38-42 - (22.10) (31.04) 27.75 25.87 25.85

Best average of 12: 28.07
24-35 - (21.76) 28.56 25.25 27.28 29.42 27.50 29.09 (34.62) 25.75 29.59 31.84 26.40

Today I find solving CN just as easy (or just as hard) as white crosses. Only thing now is that I can pick from multiple crosses which enhances my luck in finding an easy cross. I am really happy with this new found skill.
