Being color neutral only saves you one move in your cross on average, IIRC, maybe two. If you had infinite amount of time to practice, you'd obviously want to be color neutral, but with the finite amount we humans are capable of I personally don't think the effort to become color neutral is worth the small advantage it gets you.
Edit: Other methods it is probably more useful to be at least partial color neutral. I was basically neutral back when I used Roux as my main method and the easier blocks came in VERY handy.
People say colour neutral saves you 1-2 moves on average. Yes, it's true, at home. But when you get to a competition, you might get a very bad cross on your fixed colour compared to a 2 move cross on another colour, and the easy cross would probably give you better lookahead as well if you were colour neutral. This might save you a whole second or more, and in a competition average of 5 format, 1 second can mean a lot.
Take for example, if Faz were to solve with only green cross in the 8.52 average, I'm sure it would've not been this fast, probably a 9 or so.
Just my 2 cents
