About solving rubik's magic

it may sound boring but it's reallyyyyy addicting lol.. u won't wanna put it down once you get decent lol... now getting sub second? that takes a whileeeee haha (not saying that i've done it of course)

Takes about a week if you actually try.

It takes more than a week. It only takes 1 week if you do magic the whole day.

I got sub-1 in less than a week.

I've been doing solves every week for 2 years and still have only gone sub-2 a few times. :(

Wow, I got my first sub-2 in a matter of days. And I wasn't doing it over an hour a day.

Doesn't an hour a day equate to at least 250 (but probably >> 300) solves? With that amount of practice I would expect a sub 2 average within 2 days

I got a sub-2 second average on my second day and probably less than 1-2 hours of total practice. Since then, I've never practiced again. I started treating it as a real puzzle and scrambling it and solving it in about 1-20 minutes. That happened for a few days. Then, I went to Drexel Open, it broke, and I haven't done it since. It's just too boring. I'd rather practice my PLLs like crazy. I think I practice single PLLs 100 in a row more often than solving the cube now. That's how I can get 0.9 U perm average of 12 and 1.3 R perm average of 12...

Phil Thomas learned Magic the night before US Nationals and got 3.16 average.

I decided to teach my 5-year-old Magic so she can compete in the Twin Cities competition, and she learned it in just a few minutes. I am having issues with the last flip not staying down......see thread in hardware section

on a simpsons magic I bought at the Benelux Open I'm pretty stable round 1.60 seconds

as soon as I've finished the custom magic I'm making (and I threaded it right so it doesn't flip up and +2 on every solve)

I guess by
if you actually try
he means doing 500 or more "solves" every day

:)

Good point, but I still suspect I couldn't get there in a week, even beginning now. I have a feeling I've probably done at least 2000 solves in those two years, and I wouldn't be surprised if I've done over 3500 solves.

I've improved from best time of 0.88 to 0.84 (more than once) in 1 day. I've also improved my best average by 0.04 in a few days too. I still think my average is stable around 1.00 though.

Here's a tip:
Do use the faster method and don't use the table. Practice. I used to DNF a lot too (and get 2 tile/2 second penalty) but after practice, that rarely happens now.

Sub-1 should be easily possible in one week if you try. I made it to sub 1.5 in two days, with a few sub 1s every once in a while.
