Hi I don't have a rubik's magic, but Im planning on buying one.

From the videos Ive seen, solving a rubik's magic is just putting the 3 seperate rings together into three mingled rings, right?

so when you solve it, do u just always perform the same moves?

I mean, there isn't a scramble procedure before solving the magic?always start with three seperate rings, and always perform same moves to get them together, just try to get fast as possible?

Thanks.

then whats so fun about solving a rubik's magic? because you just memorize a set of moves, then perform it again and again?

The magic has images on both sides, so the combined rings image is actually on the back side of it. But yea, its always the same moves, there is no scramble.

It might sound kinda dumb, but to be honest, since I got mine a couple of days ago I've been having more fun with it than with my cube.

the fact that it can be done so quickly is why i do it. you get a crappy time and always want to improve it, so you keep doing it. its actually more fun than you think, although its not really a challenge

it may sound boring but it's reallyyyyy addicting lol.. u won't wanna put it down once you get decent lol... now getting sub second? that takes a whileeeee haha (not saying that i've done it of course)

Takes about a week if you actually try.

i guess but i've been focusing a bit on 3x3 lately...magic fastest time is 1.37 so idk

It takes more than a week. It only takes 1 week if you do magic the whole day.

I got sub-1 in less than a week.

I've been doing solves every week for 2 years and still have only gone sub-2 a few times. :(

I guess by
if you actually try
he means doing 500 or more "solves" every day

Good point, but I still suspect I couldn't get there in a week, even beginning now. I have a feeling I've probably done at least 2000 solves in those two years, and I wouldn't be surprised if I've done over 3500 solves.

I've done 100 solves in a day a number of times. But this might be one of those things where doing 100 solves every day for a month isn't as good as doing 500 solves in a day.

Of course, about 8 months ago I gave up on the "standard" method of solving a Magic and switched to the "Bob Burton" method (solving against the table). I did that because solving it the regular way gave me no speed advantage at all, and against the table is much more reliable (fewer DNFs). I suspect if I want to get sub-1, I need to switch back.

I think going 7 * 500 solves will be a much better training than doing 2 * 365 * 5 solves. I consider the 5 solves I do for everything every week "maintenance" so my times stay about the same. I think doing 7 * 50 solves would considerably decrease my times for most puzzles.
