Hello, guys.

It's been a little while since i was using this site, i wish i remembered my login details, and have recently decided to get back into solving. The last time i was using the forums was when the Dayan Zhanchi was pretty much the rage (Not sure how long ago that was).

I just seek answers to a few questions and where better to find them than here.

My first question is, what is/are the leading 3x3x3? As i said i was a Zhanchi kind of guy but I've done a little research and can see theirs a lot more out there now. (I used to average sub-12 with a pb of 8.38 with CFOP and ZZ and prefer a smooth, "gliding" feel)

Secondly, I'm mainly returning because i want to maintain the ability to Blind solve, has their been any advancements in techniques over BH/3Style? Is M2/OP still a viable method? and is DarkMaskow still the predominant force within BLD?

And finally... What is the go to timer these days?

Thanks for any reply you may have and i look forward to further progressing alongside you all once again.

Alex.

The main 3x3s these days are Gans Air which is expensive moyu GTS2 the gts c1 is still good and the Valk. Magnetic cubes are a new thing that is very popular. Maslow still has the Multi we and that record is the 41/41 from 2013 and is likely to get broken at worlds since a handful of people are getting close.

So on hardware magnetic cubes are now a thing and the main companies to look at for 3x3s are moyu, Qiyi, and Gans. Yuxin has good big cubes but moyu and Qiyi have a complete 4-7 set too. Also the Qiyi square 1 was a giant jump.

For timers there is a stack at v4 and there is cstimer but I use prisma puzzle timer. 3 style is most the fast blders do.

Most BLDers are Kaijun Lin he has the world records for 3-5bld. Gianfranco Huanqui whose brother was the megaminx world records is good at 3bld. Look at the rankings to get an idea that who is fast since there are quite a few sub 30 3bld people.

Thankyou for the fast reply, tx.

I'm looking into the magnetic cubes now and it seems rather interesting, i'll have to get a couple and see what fits me.

In regards to timers, i remember using a version of cstimer but can not recall the name. Kqtimer... Gqtimer. It's a huge blur, i loved that timer but can't seem to find it. Has it gone offline or possibly been re-named?

It's very nice to hear the WCA are now holding official events for 4 and 5BLD, i'll be sure to catch up on the current rankings.

Once again, thanks for the reply, It's been very useful.
