A beginner's view of EO

it's me who are truly in appriciation of all your rocking guys here. i guess you (i mean everyone here) might not have the idea of how exciting it is to me when checking those WCA records listed here... Wow!

Cube is for fun, but i think no fun is a serious one when it's not obtained seriously... Solute! to everyone.

back to the topic, thanks a lot for your explain. I now see that ZZ got potentials for attacking a "best single run", but speaking about the "average", it still lagged behind other methods even among top cubers...

Well I wouldn't necessarily say that, any method can produce lucky singles, some methods just have more work earlier to increase your chances at getting lucky later (Petrus/ZZ.) We won't know for certain if ZZ will be able to truly compete with CFOP (sub8 averages) for a while, the method is only about 4 years old and only a handful of really fast cubers are using it. CFOP has been developing for 30 years and intensively progressing for the last 8 years or so. I wasn't trying to over-simplify the comparison between the methods, I was just pointing out a few advantages/disadvantages.

I think i have absolutely no better chance to guess the future of what zz can achieve than anyone else in this thread. and thanks again for your solid explains.

I could also able to observe and sense immediately the courtesy among all the top cubers here against a specific "method". I will definately follow the mood rule and merge into this atmosphere.

Just want to say, without expert critics, a method could not get developped quick and well. IMHO, the warm hearted complains are big helps, usually bring more values than clapping. If everyone says only "yup, this way looks good, just keep investigating, some day later it will be as good as that...", then it misses the valuable opportunities of idea sharing.

please kindly bear my blunt thoughts here.

: o )

I think this is really important and something people don't think about when thinking about methods.

People just assume that I'm just shooting down someone's ideas for the fun of it when in reality I'm trying to help them. Happens a lot.

@Rpotts
no, and this in fact is another puzzle for me to crack on ... (1000x1000x1000 style...) and no matter how desperatedly i'm in need of one, nobody has ever invented a speed solving method yet...

I love people who write long posts in English in a higher standard than the forum average then say it's something they need to work on.

(disclaimer: not sarcastic)

First. I don't smoke or use any of those illegal substances you are referring to.
Second. I actually had a point (even though it was a little short with only one sentence) but obviously you didn't understand and I don't feel to elaborate it any more.

Ok, any way, have fun

It was quite difficult to understand what you meant when all you said was a statement that was incorrect.

Weird, yeah, Roux reduces it to a set where you don't have to swap hands or rotate. It's very good for focussing on your right hand in that respect. So I'm not sure what our point was. I'm pressuming you didn't have a meaningful point which is why you don't want to elaborate on it.

ok, sorry for the understanding and elaboration part. Can we please drop this?

Also I made a typo in the original post it should state <L,U,R>+M for the edge orientation, which was my original though that could translate into <R,r,U,M>. Doesn't that do the same thing, or am I not understanding something here? Without the +M I understand you got confused and I was a little to fast with the respond, it was not thought through properly.

LUR+M for EO? What? For LSE it's all MU.
Unless you're talking about the first block, which is done much more freely (you could call it 6 gen), then reducing to RrUM as Kir said. The difference in the first block is you don't have to constantly change hands as much unlike just LUR.

LURM and RrUM may seem very similar move wise but the latter features absolutely no L moves, which is why it's more ergonomic, because of no regrips.

Niklas one of the fastest algs I can do , and for more complex algs I would even prefer <R,U,D> (e.g. E-PERM) -- the slowness starts with using halfturns especially L2 / D2.

At the start of ZZF2L I'm regulary forced to send pieces on very long journeys, and I also have to look for edges at two more places (compared to cross).

After reading this thread I'm feeling much better now, because I believed in the ZZ RUL-propaganda before and thought it's just me having these problems
