My 2x2 background:
- 1 month of 2x2 speedcubing experience, right from when I started learning Ortega
- Currently high 4.5 to low 4.6xx global (most recent ao50 4.58)
- I only know the 12 basic algs (i.e. 7 oll + 5 pbl)
- Can only predict oll 20% of the time
What I feel is my strong point: efficient faces and solid PBL recognition
What I feel is my weak point: TPS (i turn at like low 4 tps lol inclusive of very frequent lockups)
My cube: little magic 2x2
As you can see, I may not be qualified to write this since you have a bigger skill set and more knowledge than me, but at the same time, my global is lower than yours so it is up to you to decide whether you want my advice.
My assessment of you based on the info you have given is that you may have the following problems (i may be wrong):
1. Inefficient faces (i.e. you are still thinking in terms of the beginners method where you solve each corner in an individual manner)
2. Very HUGE pause to recognise PBL (this was the problem that I had, which made me stagnant at around 7 seconds like you. However, I quickly realised of this problem and took 2 days just working on pbl recognition, and on the 3rd day, my average dropped by 2 seconds after a few hours of pracitising - very reasonable improvement as I am very sure I pause for 1.5 seconds on average intially)
I will link a video below which I watched myself a couple of weeks ago before I dropped my times.
Additional tip from me (not included in the above video): I suggest you can improve on your first face. Do this first before even planning to memorise big 2x2 algorithm sets such as EG as you need to build a strong foundation for the first face. (Refer to * at the bottom of this post if you want to know I feel first face should be of your top priority) Here, you can either choose to go for algorithmic first face, or intuitive first face:

(Intuitive First Face)
*So basically, when you are learning big algorithm sets, you will eventually need to one look solves, which means you need to predict the case you will get after doing the first face (a.k.a. eg case). This means that your first face movecount cant be too high since you need to trace through your first face solution. Ok, even if you have some amazing spatial awareness capabilities and can trace through a 15 mover first face, your final movecount for the entire solve will be too high that it is hard to rely on TPS to compensate for the increased movecount. As a side note, all of these are my own personal opinions, so feel very free to consider all options that you have.
