Changes to the WCA event list.

That is IT. We need to actually do something! We should threaten to overthrow the WCA. I'm very serious.
We gotta start working on the W2PA

But what if they remove stuff like FMC, and also, Feet solving should come back!

These voting preferences are strange.
According to this^:
10% of ballots (31) were cast for removing clock, with those voters having a second preference for not removing clock;
3.5% of ballots (11) were cast for not removing clock, with those voters having a second preference for removing clock;

This isn't how preference votes normally work, is it? Presumably this was some sort of internet ballot where you couldn't just put your first preference and leave it at that??

I really don’t know what’s going on in this voting system, but I think the first vote counts here.

That being the case, the vote was:
46% continue with removal;
20% retain clock as a non-championship event;
32% reverse the decision to remove;
1% abstain.
(total 99% due to rounding)

I find it quite disconcerting that they keep running votes like this only within the WCA organization - volunteers, board members, etc. - seemingly without any regard for the wider community's views. To me it seems the cubing community as a whole is almost unanimously against the removal, yet that doesn't seem to be taken into account whatsoever. This is disturbing.

I am really surprised and curious why the volunteers are pro-clock-removal. I wonder if this is due to the event being perceived as difficult to run, if it is due to volunteers wanting to be supportive of the people running the WCA, if it is because they agree with the board's perspective and desire to make cubing a bigger "sport" with better sponsorship, or if it's really just true that those people also don't care for clock.
I agree with Hazel that it seems to me the overall cubing community leans more in the direction of keeping clock; I guess it might be possible that's a perception bias on our part, but I honestly don't think that's likely.
I certainly would have voted first preference C, second preference B. I regretted that this sort of vote wasn't an option in the survey they gave to everyone right before the decision.

There is an option “first preference C, second preference B”, which is the second most voted option with 90 votes.

OK well at least it sort of shows that the majority vote revolves around keeping clock in some shape or form (although I do not understand why B is an option). I think another vote focused on clock and it's removal should be held, as it is still a pretty close vote, but should include those on the WCA themselves (using WCA IDs to prevent multiple votes).

It is weird how some people who preferred to keep clock decided to have the removal of clock as a second option.

Also, what exactly does "abstain" mean in this scenario ? Does it just mean that the entire idea of clocks removal is scrapped ? (I find the definition rather hard to understand for some reason)
