When you guys say yau on 5x5 do you mean: solve first 2 centers then the 3 edges then finish centers

Yau has potential, but most of the super fast people use redux.

Would be interesting to see a really fast Yau5 solver come through though. I can get decent times with Yau5 despite having done only a few solves with it.

Yau5 is a badass method, but I think reduction is little bit faster (movecount?)

Figuring out enough details about movecount to decide which method's is better is really difficult because it can vary so much from solve to solve and person to person. For example, compare the movecount in Meep's old WR single to all of the solves in Feliks' WR avg (whichever recent one was fully reconstructed).

For myself, my movecounts with the two methods are pretty close, but Yau5 tends to be slightly lower.

Has anyone thought about a partial version of yau? Solving only 2 edges with freeslice and having U and F to solve centers instead of just U might be useful for 5x5+. And what about solving all 4 cross edges and putting them on DL, DR, BL, and BR? Might have to do a lot of Rw R' and Lw L', or else find a way to do M effectively, but... idk. Just throwing out ideas. Solving only 2 edges before centers seems viable.
