Secret Petrus technique REVEALED

Very interesting idea!

Make the F2L shorter by allowing a bad corner and don't get punished for it in move count later. I don't think it is as fast as 4th-pair + OLL, but that will largely depend on the cases you get.

yeah, 4th pair and OLL are pretty fast but the faster blocks make up for it.

You can build a Triple-x cross anyway you want...

Correction: less moves for blocks could theoretically make up for it.

It is time for a block solver to prove it before making claims like this

Sorry if I'm appearing to be rude or anything, but how is this a new idea? And how is it a secret? I've been thinking about using this ever since I discovered MGLS, too bad I've switched to Fridrich by the time I've discovered MGLS, so I've never used it, long story, yeah.

I seriously doubt many people have thought of this, I really like the idea but I don't use Petrus or Fridrich. Would this be faster than just recognizing four corners on the LL instead of five (four on LL, 1 on D - MGLS)?

Keep working on your times, I want to see you (and Johannes, and whoever else) catch up to Fridrich.

I thought it was already obvious that there was a balance:

Fridrich F2L Pair:
No thought, more moves to pair and insert

Block Method Pair:
No thought but you go slower for improved look-ahead, less moves to pair and insert

my reco for the cases has gotten a lot better since I started. The D corner doesn't make it any harder. it just tells weather I have to do a reflection or not.

These algs are less efficient than OLL and the easier block building probably compensates for it a bit. but they make up for anything else with their speed.

So is it just a different way of solving and not really an improvement (especially considering the amount of cases to learn)? I just looked at the cases on the site and they are very fast so if it is an improvement, it seems like a very small one. But I guess "Every little bit helps".

I think it is awesome in the nasty cases where the corner edge is paired up but the corner is twisted. maybe it will not make your best times faster, but your slow times will be faster.

I think I'll learn the corner in place cases.
