One day, Doc Brown and Clara came to visit me. Apparently, they had traveled to the future and done a little shopping.
As we were chatting, I asked him about the state of cubing in the future. "Doc, can you tell me about the state of cubing in the future?"
Doc replied, "Sure. To avoid time paradoxes, I can't go into too many details, so you'll have to imagine it. But I can tell you that something very amazing happened."
He continued, "One year, the WCA proposed changing the name of the World Rubik's Cube Championship to the Cubing Olympics. The number of events increased significantly, and the content and rules for each event began to be determined. The first Cubing Olympics was held in 20XX. Approximately 100 countries participated."
I was able to find out as much as I could about the events that took place, and the outline is as follows:
・Singles match (Participants are divided into groups of about 6 people, and only the top player advances to the next round. Speed of inspection is also considered a measure of skill, so there is no Inspection time. The fastest time to complete 5 cubes is the competition.)
・Singles match with Interference (2 competitors compete at a time. Each uses 1 cube. For every 3 QTM a competitor turns, the opponent turns 1 QTM to interfere. However, interference with slot-in pairs is prohibited. The first to complete the cube after being interfered with by the other wins.)
・Doubles match (Competitors pair up and compete. There is no inspection time. Pairs execute 1 QTM by turn, and the first pair to complete the cube wins.)
・Individual medley (21 types of PLL are executed in alphabetical order, and the fastest time to complete them is the winner.)
・3-person relay (Each team uses 5 cubes. Competitors execute 1 QTM by turn, and the fastest time to complete the 5 cubes is the winner.)
・5-person relay (Same as 3-person relay.)
・FMC with Obstacle Race (A cube with star marks on six specific edges is used. The rules are basically the same as those of FMC. However, if the star marks "sandwich" the cube center, a penalty of 2 QTM is added each time.)
・Figure Cubing (A one-minute piece of music is played, and performance during that time is judged by the score awarded by 5 judges. Competitors must pre-register the tricks they will perform in the actual competition and the order in which they will perform them. The 5 judges focus on scoring the quality of each technical element and the program components for each player, like a figure skating.)
・Marathon (A time of 42,195 QTM is competed for. Any finger tricks are allowed.)
・Finger Tricks (5 tricks are performed in 30 seconds, and the ranking is determined by the score awarded by 5 judges. The tricks they will perform in the actual competition and the order in which they will perform them must be pre-registered and performed exactly as planned.)
・Cube Assembly Time (Competitors compete by the fastest time it takes to reassemble and solve the cube.)
I was very happy that the Rubik's Cube would not go out of fashion in the future, but rather would gain an even higher status.
