i was processing a 3x3 single video, i hate 2x2s so took 4x4 and did an avg of 5 for 2x2 scrambles , scrambling was confusing, avg was 6.xy haha

Puzzle emulation is a fun thing to do. For example you can emulate a 3x3x3 on a 6x6x6 and a 4x4x4 on an 8x8x8. But it is much better to use a real puzzle instead.

However, puzzle emulation can quicken up the breaking in of a puzzle product alot.

Like Antoine said, you can just ignore pieces. Doing this, a 7x7 can emulate any smaller cube. (Well, I guess it depends what Thom meant by "emulate".)

Also a NXNXN cube can emulate cuboids too. Don't own a real 2x2x4 cuboid? Use a 4x4x4 to emulate it.
