So I was playing with my zhanchi, and it suddenly EXPLODES! the spring was under so much pressure it blew the center cap off. Should i make the cube tighter to make it less poppy, or looser so that the springs dont come under so much pressure?

quick, i need it fixed in 3 hours to show it off to my friends

thanks for your quick reply, maybe 18-20 hand turns, the sides werent all even, should i remove the washers, they seem to take up space, and thus putting the spring into more pressure, but then comes the scraping.

also, i had torpedos in. normal pops wouldnt matter, but im afraid that the spring/washer may get lost.

Take off all center caps and loosen all sides so the washer is aligned with the top of the little cylinder. Tighten all sides by maybe a turn and a half. Test the cutting on each side and tighten if it looks like it will pop. I'm on my phone so its difficult to link you to one, but try to find a tensioning/DIY tutorial.

I'm still not sure what this means, and if it means what I think it means then... wat.

um... i dunno how to explain things, but the screw's rings dont stick out as much anymore, and it just slips off when i force pop

but it happens only when i force pop by overcutting it, so if i make it tighter, not make it cut so much, then problem solved?

cube tightest, makes it like a rubik's

Was there an actual explosion with sparks and stuff?

no,haha

ok ok ok, I think I get it... do you mean the whole center piece is coming loose from the core? If so the core may be threaded... not sure how to fix that other than with a new core, or by superglueing the screw into it... but that's pretty permanent.

I have a c4u core from a 3x3x5 experiment, not sure if i can use that, but i have homework to do!!!

also, the screws are so scraped down that they look like this:

Not sure how to fix it other than just getting a new cube it it's absolutely horrible, but could you please use the edit button to edit your posts instead of posting three or four times in a row?

yeah i did that. the old core seems defective. the screws start to become tight when it touches the ring of the center piece when screwed to the c4u core. but the old one, it just sinks to the bottom (half a cm) and it's extremely loose

thanks for merging my posts, i am new to the forum. (what a bad excuse)
