Hi everybody! My name is JakeL and I started cubing around last summer. That was when a friend of mine taught me how to solve the first layer on a 3x3 with the beginners method. By last Christmas I was able to solve the whole cube. After that I just loved cubing! I soon got a 4x4 and learned to solve it that week. Then I was told that it wasn't very impressive to just look up how to solve my cubes and memorize some algorithms, so now I try to only figure out my cubes. My current cube collection: LanLan 2x2, 3 Rubik's 3x3's, Rubik's 4x4, Rubik's 5x5, V-Cube 6, V-Cube 7, Mirror Blocks, Siamese Rubik's 3x3, Megaminx, Gear Cube, Floppy 3x3x1, Void Cube, and a Dayan Guhong. My main speed solving cube is the Dayan Guhong. PB: 42s (Beginners Method). Current method: F2l, 2-look OLL, 2-Look PLL. Sorry if this post was too long :)

Posts don't have a limit :) Most are happy if there's a lot of information. Also, if you have any questions, you can ask it in the One Answer Question Thread rather than starting a new thread.

And don't let people say that you shouldn't learn from other people on how to solve your cube, even though it is more impressive if you solve it by yourself. There's nothing bad about learning from others.

And hello :)

Jakel, well I agree with Ianography. there is a completely new feeling of figuring out things yourself. It can turn out to do a little good for yourself(except that it will eat your time more so efficiency willl be reduced), but in general, the community does not benefit from this. What i mean to say is, if someone learns how to solve, explores all different methods, and comes up with his own ways or substeps for solving the cube, that will be a great boon for the community. I do appreciate the fact that you learned yourself (i tried for 1 hour, and then learnt in a day how to solve) but just saying your energy could have been utilisied in a better way. For example, the mathematics community does not really benefit if everyone derives the already derived formulae on their own but nobody tries the unsolved problems like the millenium prize problems.. We all love you for being one of the people who learns on own :)
